You can’t fail your test because of another driver. You also did something wrong alongside what they did.
@stevieblackburn1589 Жыл бұрын
@ohyeahyeah1068 well yeah, obviously it was because of my follow up action but what I meant was if the learner that was in front of me at the junction hadn't decided to stick their car in reverse confusing me with what they were trying to do, then I would have passed that particular test with 0minors. But yes, I had no where to go other than round the learner (on the other side of the road on a blind bend so wouldn't have seen anything trying to turn in until it was too late) but because I didn't make that call to go round them fast enough (as i personally thought i was doing the safest thing), my response to the road user was, understandable, not good enough. But that was November and I've learnt from the mistake and passed now so all good.

That left turn on to the dual carriageway was dodgy, treat it like a roundabout, make sure both lanes are clear. You never know if the approaching car is about to change lanes as you pull out and as you swing the front out it could clip an approaching car if one of the cars is over the centre line.
@marllram11 ай бұрын
Damnn I'd never pass driving in UK. Where I come from, roads are always full, no one ever wait for two lanes clear when making a turn, or we'd never move anywhere for sure. But as you said, indeed it is dangerous, so I should maybe practice this whenever the lane is clear enough, just to have that conciousness 'this is what I should be doing' instead of being complacent in habits.

While I don't drive in the UK, I would never pass the test there, as I still sometimes manage to stall a car even after over 150,000 miles of driving and can easily make mistakes if I drive on a route that I've driven loads of times. But I do agree, if you don't rush when you don't need to (e.g. left early enough to still get to your destination on time if there is a lot of traffic), you will save yourself a lot of nerves and will drive quite a bit smoother aswell.

Nope. Mounting the curb is dangerous no matter how you look at it. No change needed. Mounting the curb might damage your vehicle or your tyres, can also possibly lead to endangerment of pedestrians. If you hold a license already, you may need to evaluate how you drive. If not, please learn that it can be dangerous.
@whoslilb11 ай бұрын
it is still nonsense. im not saying going over the curb entirely and obstruct pedestrians, but slightly touching the curb while doing the manoeuvre shouldn't be reason to fail someone. at the end of the day, damaging tyres and all that you just mentioned is only my business, as it is my car. In other countries people do it and they still all safe and everyone's happy and no one complained. And let's be honest, much better to park slightly over the curb, than parking on a road, blocking traffic. This law and rule is stupid and I don't care what anyone says @@MinyaKinar

brother you're being ignorant about the difference between those who knowingly mount the curb to park, and those (like the guy in the video) who mount the curb by accident. @whoslilb11 ай бұрын
I understand what you mean, but you are saying it is dangerous because you've been taught that way. Yeah it seemed like he had plenty of time to me too, but then I realized it might be a cultural thing. In my region almost all roundabouts have actual borders around them, and if they don't, they are still well respected, people drive around them. There, in the video, it seems like a lot of people cut over them. I imagine experienced drivers will be more likely to yield in these intersections, expecting incoming traffic to cut over the roundabout. If that was the case I understand why someone would stop in that situation.

So I feel like that situation with that other learner on that roundabout is just caused by bad road design. If you want something to function like a roundabout, make it into an actual roundabout. Don't just paint some lines on the road and call it a day. Now it's just a glorified junction and that's what causes these weird situations with everyone turning like it's a junction instead of a roundabout. I wouldn't blame him for that fault with that learner, I would have done the same.

You call a minor fault advisory. For instance @4:08 (signal timed a bit early) should be a minor because there’s a junction junction before pulling up, that’s because there wasn’t any vehicle in the junction, if there was, that would be a serious fault. @4:57 (junction observation) should be a minor. @7:31 (driving a bit fast) should be minor as well as it’s meeting situation. @10:12 at roundabout is a minor for undue hesitation, and a car sounded horn as well. More importantly, @10:50 (right indicator is still on) driving on a busy dual carriageway confusing & scaring other drivers and a van even moves over to make space for him! I really don’t get how so many learners leave the indicator running for so long after they have made their turn, it makes a repetitive noise FFS 🤦🏼♀️

I said the same until that mock test

Most learner drivers nowadays grew up with indicators that self cancel or turn off automatically after the steering wheel returns to its neutral position. So its natural to think that they dont have to turn it off after making the turn(Though Im surprised it took him that long). I've been guilty of a)Not turning them off after making a turn and B) Either not turning them on fully or making a steering input that causes them to turn off before I even approached the junction/roundabout.

@@Bav-s30zwhen I was learning I used to get told not to manually turn it off sometimes, so that’s definitely why.
@Bav-s30z Жыл бұрын
@@ohyeahyeah1068Dunno why your instructor says that. I feel thats a lot more reliable, I wish I got the habit of doing that. You can't always trust them to stay on as long as you'd like. its a lottery.
@ohyeahyeah1068 Жыл бұрын
@@Bav-s30z probably just because i was only leaving it on for like 3 seconds, but now for me it just depends on what the situation is, I do it a lot when exiting roundabouts or non 90 degree turns and lane switching obviously. It is unnecessary to do it manually at like t junctions and stuff usually though.

you caused a dangerous [time 15.02] and serious fault on dual roundabout. which is unnecessary and learner car was not even in the roundabout and he doing the correct thing

Priority for traffic on the right side.
@OidhcheMhath3 ай бұрын
@@mhjgh3834 What traffic on the right hand side? Nothing enters the roundabout from the right side during that entire situation. Plus, it's UK and left-side driving, priority would be for the left side, aaand it's a roundabout and all entrances are the same priority (i.e. yield to people already on the roundabout).
