Please don't worry about being long winded. Often learning what not to do is just as important as learning what to do. !!! Love your vids Thanks

Little more advanced lessons like yours are the best! I'd like to see how you would combine free form models and parametric solids with nice blends in the future! 🙏

Great suggestion! I'll keep that in mind for a future vid. In the forms mastery playlist I did show associative match which is a tool that lets you drive the shape and edge of a form with a surface. So i would likely suggest start with the surface first and drive the form that way, but it could work either direction.

I know some people don't like a long tutorials but I do and I like to learn. I definitely learned a lot on this. Keep it up! Try to give it three thumbs up. We both know how that turned out. If you did want to break up the video (I'm not trying to tell you what to do), maybe cut the video up at every time you save.

Thank you! This one actually ended up being 3 clips edited together so that might have been better ;) I did add chapters to this one since its longer.

I very much appreciate you taking the time to answer the questions of “Why” you would use one approach vs another. Extremely helpful! Understanding how the tool works is indeed valuable but when one can understand the why then it makes a huge difference. Thanks so much for these comprehensive videos.

Can't thank you enough. I have learned so much valuable knowledge from your videos. Not many channels give so much value for free... Actually you teach 10x more in a video than the university teaches in 4 years 😂

why not use the Mirror feature for all of the fillets/patched fillet etc? (I may have not been paying attention when you addressed that bit)
@LearnEverythingAboutDesign
@LearnEverythingAboutDesign Жыл бұрын
I don't remember exactly at which point you are talking about, but in general mirrors of things like fillets on more complex shapes tend to fail, so that might have been the reason. Not sure. If I can help it I generally will mirror prismatic features and apply fillets to the top/bottom in a single feature. Exceptions would be things like rect/circ patterns.

well most clients that I do videos for don't. "focus groups" say the motion makes you sick watching. I go back and forth. I used to use it exclusively then went several years without touching it. Now I go back and forth.

Hi, absolutely fantastic video. Thanks for this. Can you tell me if there is a way to show deviations between scan and parametric model for Fusion 360? Greetings Mike

Thanks Mike! Sadly no that is where a true mesh/reverse engineering program will shine. On the free side MeshLab i believe will do that.

Is this shape sort of an easy one? I might be having some reduced brain capacity but I cant for the life of me figure out how to transfer this knowledge onto my own project. Ive scanned one side of a grip panel for a riflestock, and the scan is good, I've oriented it in GOM but that is as far as I'm going to get after 5 hours of watching videos on reverse engineering...
@LearnEverythingAboutDesign
@LearnEverythingAboutDesign Жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say this is an easy shape but every design has its own complexities. Did you see the first 2 parts of this series? I show 3 different ways to work on this shape and why for this one i used parametric modeling. For your rifle stock, that is generally a shape that might lean more towards a form workflow where you can snap to the face with a form.

@@LearnEverythingAboutDesign I watched part 1, 2 and 3 and also a few other videos that you made, and from a few other youtubers. Im sure the explanations and guiding are good, but my tiny brain cant seem to compare the techniques used in your example over to what Im trying to work on… Im just about to give it another go. Id love to show you what Im working on, but I dont think I can link to anything or add a photo here in the comment section.

3D mouse is just fine, what was wrong with it?
@LearnEverythingAboutDesign
@LearnEverythingAboutDesign 3 ай бұрын
I used one exclusively when I was only using Solidworks because I don't like their navigation. I have found in every other software I prefer not to. Mainly because I use a lot of shortcut keys when sketching and modeling that are available with my left hand. I am actually slower at modeling when using a 3d mouse. I had one hooked up that I touched maybe once in 6mo so i reclaimed some desk space :)

@@LearnEverythingAboutDesign Makes sense. I have a single spacemouse. I wonder how useful the ones with many button options are.
@LearnEverythingAboutDesign
@LearnEverythingAboutDesign 3 ай бұрын
@@MuttakiNL I have a space explorer with a few buttons on it. I used to use a navigator with the screen and all the buttons. the problem I have is that its not enough buttons so i still need to use the keyboard. I had it setup so i used the keyboard for sketching and had the hotkeys mapped to the mouse for modeling. In fusion i use hotkeys for more than buttons would allow :)
@MuttakiNL
@MuttakiNL 3 ай бұрын
@@LearnEverythingAboutDesign Hotkeys are definitely great to use. You have great tutorials by the way, they are much much better than even the most popular channels on KZbin. Thanks for this channel overall.
