0:40]. Ok, she uses the liaison - good to know. I know the liaison is supposed to be out fashion or even perceived as "stilted" in contemporary French, but I've always really liked it.

Thanks for the encouragement! I fully intend on it as I'm finally finding a bit more time to focus on my channel / content 🙂 That said, I'm not ready to commit to a schedule again just yet as I wouldn't want to do so only to not be able to stick to it. But what I can say is, I'll definitely post more than I did last year!

Please what is the meaning of "Non mais dis donc" and how could in a dialogue.
@Frencheezi4 жыл бұрын
That's a good question, I don't think it has an English equivalent 🤔 It's an expression used mostly to show disapproval (Non mais dis donc, pourquoi tu as fait ça ?! Hey! What did you do that for?!/ Non mais dit donc, il a du culot celui-là ! Blimey, he does have some nerve that one!).

1:41]. Ok, I'm just going to say this now. Some of the more advanced features of contemporary pronunciation are good to know, you *will* hear them and knowing these things could help you, but there is a danger. The danger is if you are a French learner you can easily fool the native speaker you are conversing with that you have better French than you really do. If the goal is to communicate with a native French speaker, you have to employ a strategy that naturally encourages the person you are conversing with to speak at a level you can comprehend and reply to. That generally means speaking more slowly, enunciating carefully, and speaking more formally. A native speaker will naturally tend to adjust their own speech to accommodate you. If the goal is communication, that is a win. Survival strategy, speak at the speed you would wish to be replied at. If they are speaking too fast, slow down yourself.
