hello, I am never able to understand the difference between in and zu, when you say "Ich gehe ins Buro" but "ich gehe zum Supermarket". Both are movement, both your are going entering a building so why do you use ins for Buro and zum for Supermarket?
@AthmaNathan4 жыл бұрын
its because ZU is a dativ preposition. Hence zum supermarkt is correct and not zu das supermarkt
@AthmaNathan4 жыл бұрын
Ins is used when you are going into some place, whereas zu represents your movement to some place. Hence ich gehe zum Supermarkt means that I am going to supermarket. If you want to say that you are going into the supermarket , it should be ich gehe in der Supermarkt

So is "Ich gehe zum Supermarkt" or "Ich gehe zur Schule" an exception?, because There's also "Ich gehe ins Büro". In all three situations, we are going into a building. So what's the difference and how do we know when to use zu oder in?. Danke im voraus für Ihre Erklärung.
@LearnGermanOriginal6 жыл бұрын
"zu" is used when you are going not inside the building. "in" is used when going inside. You can watch these two videos to understand better: Wo oder Wohin (Part 1): kzbin.info/www/bejne/moXHlGyphauEn8k Wo oder Wohin (Part 2): kzbin.info/www/bejne/fabIlnSDgduJatk

Please could you explain why in the case of Zu a dativ artikel is used regardless of wo oder wohin? It said since the preposition is dativ. But nach and In are dativ prepositions too. Wherein we had to chose the appropriate artikel based on wo und wohin.

Two questions here: 1) At 5:31 - Am Wochenende fahre ich *in* die Schweiz (which, according to you, translates to " In the weekend, I am driving to Switzerland". Shouldn't it be Am Wochenende fahre ich *nach* der Schweiz because nach is used when you drive/fly to another country? 2) In one of your earlier videos (kzbin.info/www/bejne/jmfHk2NufLGoftk at 13:14) I saw this sentence: (i) Ich komme nach der Party And in this video, at 11:14 (ii) Ich gehe zu einer Party. Why is (i) nach and (ii) zu? Does (i) translate to I come *after* the party and (ii) translate *to* I am going to a Party. In (i) is nach being used as to or after?
@LearnGermanOriginal6 жыл бұрын
1) Schweiz is an exception. You always say Ich fahre in die Schweiz. 2) i. yes nach means after party ii. Yes, I am going to a party.
@sohilmehta46146 жыл бұрын

thank you soooooo much for your vedio , i came to some conclusion and with few questions .can you please explain them (1) we can say 'Ich muss erst in die Bank' if you are standing in front of or very close to the bank. But if you are at home, people would most likely say "Ich muss erst zur Bank." This indicates that you are first driving to the bank and then going inside. (2) is all the points in (1) are agree by auf and zu . now my question is * is it right to use (( ich gehe auf den spielplatz )) if you are standing in front of or very close to the spielplatz . But if you are at home, people would most likely say "Ich gehe zum Spielplatz ." This indicates that you are first driving to the spielplatz and then going inside/ on to spielplatz . i request you to say that all (2 ) is right ((((((( or ))))) even sitting at home we can say (( ich gehe auf den spielplatz )) . i am really sorry , if i am asking worst / useless doubts . but please , if you feel this is an usefull doubt , i beg you to explain in detail .

Hi Hemanth, have we answered this question?
@Boss-dy4lw6 жыл бұрын
nooo not yet , but i am waiting for your reply
@LearnGermanOriginal6 жыл бұрын
Ok, probably I typed but didn't post. (1) Basically when you are driving to a place, you use "zur" or "zum" and yes when you are going inside a building, you will use the preposition "in" (2) when you are driving to, you would use "zum" For Spielplatz, you cannot use "in" hence we use "auf den" Explanation is the same, as for "in" You don't have to be sorry about any questions you ask. We love to answer any doubts that any student has! :-)
@Boss-dy4lw6 жыл бұрын
again , thank you soo much for your kind words and for your helping nature . soo finally you mean that . sitting in home , people would like to say (or) it is correct to say . " Ich gehe zum Spielplatz " rather than (( ich gehe auf den spielplatz )) . richtig??

@nkemi.88746 жыл бұрын
It is correct because for the question Wohin, die USA and die Philippinen both have the article die(plural) in the Akkusativ. So when we ask the question Wo , then it takes the Dativ plural den. Hence, in den USA und in den Philippinen.

For those wondering why the Dative form of Die USA is Den USA instead of Der USA, it is because Die USA is a plural! (the united stateS)

You said that we need to use dative case with nach. So, the sentence should be: Nach dem Arbeit gehe ich meistens in eine kneipe. But you have used 'der' instead of 'dem' . Kindly clear my doubt please 🙏🙏🙏🙏
