Difficult to train without getting unjured unless you or your trainer really knows what to do. Consequences of injuries last longer the older you get, unfortunately, if you dont know how to train. Its not just a young persons game, but it also kind of is.

That pain in your head and neck is a warning, to let you know it needs strengthening. I use a yoga chair, and a wall at present, because I have problems with my spine, neck and wrists. My one I am aiming towards before the handstand is to do the elbow stand, that way, I can strengthen, work on balance, be more controlled, disciplined and stronger, but also pay attention to what is going on inside of me and also what is going on around me as well, is it supportive, is it helpful, or is it hurtful, helpful and supportive means no harm or injury, the other one hurtful and harmful and causes injury.
