I'm finally at the point in my learning of Japanese that I can finally break down and understand every word and character of the sentence at 33:31. In Japanese, it looks like ぼくのちさいちんちんをあつかてください。 In Romanji, it is said like "Boku no chisai chinchin o atsukate kudasai" あつかう or "atsukau" is the unconjugated verb we're using, it means "to take care (of me)" and Arin here is using this verb in Te form, which is a complex Japanese conjugation systems that has several different uses, but in this sentence it's used along with ください "kudasai" to make a polite request. ぼく "boku" is another word for I, but is used majorly by men, ちさい "chisai" means small or tiny, and of course ちんちん "chinchin" is penis.

1:21 In German the United States are called "die Vereinigten Staaten"
@KairuHakubi
@KairuHakubi 5 жыл бұрын
yeah US is a bad example since it's just words, not a proper noun. when they have different names for _america_ that's a different story. because the country (and the continents) is named after an actual italian guy. and thank god they went with his first name, I wouldn't wanna be the united states of vespuccia. When proper nouns are different, it's a mystery and a confuse. in the case of germany/deutchland/allemande for example, those are different-ass words with different origins, but the area as a whole took a while to come together into one country. and then other times we just pronounce shit wrong out of laziness.
@kyomademon453
@kyomademon453 5 жыл бұрын

I said different-ass words, not different ass-words. For someone so knowledgeable about words, you'd think you'd know how hyphens work.
@hotpotatosalad8398
@hotpotatosalad8398 5 жыл бұрын
@Kairu Hakubi Actually hyphens do more than just connect two words. They also work between segments of a sentence (to be brief about it), so ManOhMan’s misunderstanding of your meaning isn’t unrealistic or silly. He/she also wasn’t showing off words knowledge, he/she was giving the origin of -names- because it sounded like you were trashing on the names to him/her. Simple mistake is all it was.
@KairuHakubi
@KairuHakubi 5 жыл бұрын
What you mean like when someone uses a hyphen to separate out allusions - separate sentence clauses - like that? because you add spaces when you do that, and often make a double-hyphen. i will grant that the colloquial -ass suffix is not fully obvious all the time.

FLUFFY That's how they do some of their comps (and videos), i think it's so that the video gets recommended more and show up to people's feed (because their has been instances where people don't get notified, even though they have the bell on). The more recent ones have "comp." On them but the ones from last month don't.
@fluffy4192

@@maxv.9271 I think people click on it because it has a different type of title that regular content and they get baited into thinking it's not a compilation. German was the second language that I learned, after my native English. The German word for "German" is "Deutch", and the German word for "Germany" is "Deutchland", literally "German land". When I went to Germany as a foreign exchange student, I knew some German, but I didn't know the German words for other countries. I tried to say something about France, so, taking a cue from the German word for Germany, and knowing that the German word for French was "Französisch", I said called France "Französischland", literally "French land", and my "little brother" in my host family just started cracking up. The older brother corrected me: it's actually "Frankreich", literally "kingdom of the Franks".

That thing with the samurai reminds me of an interesting story. When the Mongols first invaded Japan, the Japanese samurai did what they always did and stepped out, announcing their names, lineage, and all that jazz, thinking that they were going to challenge the Mongols to honorable single combat. The Mongols, obviously not knowing Japanese, promptly ignored them, charged, and started killing them all, doing what they always did.

I just tried the free lesson as someone who already knows quite a bit of Japanese and it seems slow as molasses to me. No way it gets you fluent in 80 hours of lessons if it doesn't seriously pick up pace later on.

Gaschdisturbed Maybe, but I guess that’s because you’re more experienced in Japanese than I am. I’m experienced in German too, and if I had to do the same thing in German I don’t think I’d be able to stand it, but since I don’t know any Japanese it sticks better.

@@RealRabidRabbit It might stick better, but no way it can teach you enough to be considered fluent if it doesn't go faster later on. And I don't like that it oversimplifies the grammar. Means you learn it wrong at first out of convenience and then have to re-learn it properly later.

That first story about "why is Japan called Japan and not Nihon?" has the exact same feeling as that online post about "Grapes are easy to acquire and easy to eat".

32:29 - I hate to break it to you, Arin, but to this particular Lovely (I may not be the only one though), there have only been two levels of quality, in regard to Grumps audio: 2012-2014(ish) and now. I honestly have not noticed any of the other changes that there supposedly have been. I re-watch old series all the time, yet I still have only noticed those two levels of quality. And those times when you've left the AC on during recording? I couldn't hear the AC at all. Leave that shit on, guys. Stop torturing yourselves. Nobody can hear it.

I'm one step away to being completely fluent. Been watching Japanese cartoons since I was 3. I started to learn it when I was 9. I've done really well, since I was very interested, and my friends and family are very proud of me. My Dad was even jealous. Almost forgot to say, I hope you flawlessly learn the language! Hope it's very easy for you!

Timothy Bloss ありがとう!笑 Time isn’t a thing I have much of. So, I learn when I can. I also got my friend to start to learn it on his own. He has notebooks of it, so he studies it quite a bit. I am good enough to make sentences if I am given words and things like that. I can read and write quite a bit. I’m happy with what I know right now. I definitely plan to learn more in the future! And what cartoons did you watch?

ゴーストヒューマン What are your first and second languages? I know one must be English, but it might not be your native language, so I thought I’d ask. Lol

@@squeakers007 I would watch Dragon Ball Z, Hamtaro, a very childish one, I watched before I could comprehend emotions. Lol. I always thought the animation was so cool, and so was the language. I convinced myself that I wouldn't learn the language, but here I am, nearly fluent! Oh, I also noticed you put the short version of "Thank you" in Japanese. I think you're welcome is... Doita shimashi te? That one was hard for me to say, and even write.. the "mashi" and the "shi", ... hard for me to place.
