we spoke estanglais at home, what word came out for a concept or thing or whatever may have been in any language... but immediaely understood and next time, different words would be spoken, but not intentionally, just that they were "closer to the tounge"?
@RolandKontson6 жыл бұрын
Random - suvaline, ettejuhtuv, ebatavaline, juhuslik - plenty of words :). It's more of a girly or childish thing in my opinion to use those typical English words in my opinion, at least when it's a habit. Sometimes it's normal to think of another languages words or phrase before remembering your own language's - when work or conversation's subject is something often littered with loaned or borrowed words.

we dont have a word for random? what? random = suvaline, really = tõesti, not päriselt..päriselt = for real..I think Mariel forgot how to speak Estonian
@Just_Mariel6 жыл бұрын
Hei :) Yeah, we don't have the word for random but suvaline or juhuslik would be the closest to that in my opinion, if you want to express it in Estonian. And yes, you are right. I couldn't remember the word tõesti at that moment. I wasn't given any time to prepare, and I didn't know what questions would be asked, so I told them the words I remembered first :) Though for me päriselt makes sense.. people ask like that: really? for real? päriselt? if you hear something surprising and can't believe it, so it's not wrong!
@janeks3016 жыл бұрын
It's actually sometimes hard to translate words on the spot. Your brain starts doing weird stuff and sometimed you forget even basic things. Has happened to me. And also "päriselt" is perfectly good translation in that case. Though I would often use "tegelt?"
@Just_Mariel6 жыл бұрын
@@janeks301 Thank you!! Oh right, tegelt!! :D
@asjaosaline59876 жыл бұрын
@@Just_Mariel Tegelt is short version of it Tegelikult is full version. But Tegelt seems like more accorate couse Tegelikult can mean also actually.
@dicio40016 жыл бұрын
@@janeks301 It really is btw interesting. Our brains store memories in sections and its theorized that the reason for not being able to recall stuff that we know is because ironically while the brains tries to "route" the right data in order to do that it disconnects other unrelated info for faster "info grab". Sometimes part of that info overlaps and gets blocked off as the brains thinks its unneeded, so you "know the answer" but it won't come to you. This also explains why we stop thinking about something and it comes to us later as "the block is lifted" and the brain uses different route or blocks as we remember answers on the spot to questions of before. Lots of fun research done on this field.
