Morning Mike again outstanding video. We have driving instructors who take new drivers out on our training buses to learn all routes and also do the ticket machine training at the same time. After two weeks with an instructor then you have a week with a mentor in service then you are on your own. Route Learning...

Ah, the 314! A ridiculously long route. More sensible would be Eltham-Bromley, like the 126. But after that, you trek out to Addington, and then have to add the loop around the estate. TFL planning gone mad!

Great video Mike. I know most of my local routes as I’ve travelled on them for years. But it’s good you go over the route in the cab when you haven’t driven a route before or for a while as well as do the standard thing of going in someone’s bus. Route learning.

Route Leaning! This has always been the most intimidating aspect for me, to learn all the route, stops, curtailment points, let alone drive them. We all know that if you'd been asked to do the 261, you wouldn't need to refresh it - I'd go as far as to say that the 261 still haunts you in your nightmares Mike hahah. Keep it up!

surly there could be a system like GPS to give you the route? my dyslexia would cause a problem here i would actually think about applying

I route learned my way. Not the way the bus garages do it. There you sit on a bus in service , watch and remember

@@M1keWrites how dose the garage ask you to learn a route? i'm thinking of joining but i'm worried my dyslexia will get in the way learning them
@M1keWrites Жыл бұрын
@russflyin they get you to sit on a bus in service and watch the route. Or you’ll go out with a driver, he will do a couple of trips, then you might do a couple under his/her instruction.

The 146 is tight in places, so I’ve been told. The 138 is a pointless route, it’s short and three other bus routes go that way. I only know the beginning of the 119 once it goes up corkscrew hill you’re on your own.
