it was fun to work both digitally and traditionally this week. I particularly enjoyed working with different gamut masks and testing combinations I liked and some that challenged me.

Hey, just one of those many following your journey! I wanted to break silence to say that it's really inspiring to see how committed you are, and how far you've come already since you started. So thank you for sharing it with us all, and keep going!! As a side question tho, how do you manage to not let past lessons's skill/knowledge rust away? Say, do you allocate some time each day/week/month for practicing some of the backlog or, is it more organic? Kind of unsure myself on how to keep old practice fresh, so to speak 🤔

Hi Thank you for writing. It is good to receive feedback. As for your question, I was really worried about loosing skills once a lesson was over when I began this journey, but the curriculum tends to come back to a lot of points with some frequency that helps not loosing that much. I guess this is particularly true with perspective, as there are so many units dedicated to it, but it is also true that they change a lot in focus. I feel like topics that do not come back very often, such as the face, which was the first anatomy lesson would benefit from some revisiting, but the curriculum offered me the opportunity to work a bit with face rotations with recent perspective units. I also think it is important that, after a while in the curriculum, we start focusing on our own practices and projects in parallel with the curriculum, so you can direct your efforts towards things that interest you. In my case, I have not structured my practice to revisit the units that I have completed, I have just tried to follow the curriculum and, more recently, to work with illustrations that interest me, try challenges ... and when I imagine something I have to draw for a challenge, I often use stuff from the curriculum. Even for characters completely out of proportion as the girl having tea I used for this unit, I made an effort to draw hands that would not be completely off. I draw boxes when I need to and I think about varying my compositions... So, bringing myself to produce new things from my imagination often engages things that I have learned. So far, this is how things have been; but I think I will revisit many topics once I go through the curriculum and I will try to revisit fundamentals as well as try to focus on the style of illustrations I want to work on. I hope this helps in some way. Thank you again for writing!

@@ursamater That sounds like a really sound plan, actually! The most important part is for us to apply what we learn into work of our own, else we risk making the whole journey of learning art into nothing but a chore/grind, ruining whatever passion we had for it in the process. Thank you for taking the time to write such a thoughtful response, and once again, keep going strong with your journey!!

@@SappingSoupyes, it is important to get the fundamentals, but it is also important to practice what you want to improve and direct things towards your own path and interests. Thank you again for writing!
