A cask could contain "red" wine. A carpet's "pile" is speaking to the height and tightness of wind of its fibers, i.e. "low pile" is what you might find in high traffice areas like an office, and "high pile" is usually more suitable for homes. Agora is one of those crossword words you'll come to know, along with the others you're amassing in your nugget :)

There isn't much point in not looking things up, you wouldn't be able to finish if you just don't know most of the facts.

I think you’re having a hard time because crossword puzzles aren’t really word games, they’re more knowledge/trivia games. I couldn’t do them when I was 14 or even 20 because I just didn’t know enough. You can’t deduce your way to a completed grid like you can with Word500 (which you do well- I cannot). Because of that, you can’t get better at crosswords by solving a bunch of them, you have to just learn about a wide variety of topics. Anyway, I’m rooting for you to get better, and I’ll watch and cheer you on even when you have to look stuff up!
