@@1977fala i think it is buried now within the nest bowl as after it had pipped i think it had accidently been crushed. At first the chick was still moving inside the egg, but with the shell being crushed the membrane dried which made it difficult for the chick to break through and therefore the chick was starved of oxygen and died within the egg😢

It really is great to see M15 and F23 feeding E23 jointly. F 3 is taking to first time motherhood like a pro, as though the angels of Harriet are around her. @@sharonauker1049 Hiya😊 I think she's been shown a lot about "home life" from M for the last 7 months. A cooperative student and quick learner. She has all the right instinctual tools. I believe that her husband (with years of family atmosphere experience) is just helping her fine tune those innate skills. She's got the "WHAT"......M's helping out with the "HOW". 🤣 She's doing just great and they make a wonderful team!🌺

It's such a shame that one of the babies didn't survive the hatching process. I wonder what caused the egg to shatter? I'm glad that this eagle couple has at least one of their babies to dote on. Eagles are awesome parents. This baby will get a LOT of attention from it's parents. I wish this eagle family success.

I Think Our Precious E23 is a Boy! At 8 weeks old - almost 9, E23 is already almost the size of Daddy M15! We don't know until E23's 12 weeks old.

On the 29th for some reason it just collapsed. Don’t know why. When I saw it the next day it was severely cracked length wise which isn’t normal. The first time I saw it after that , too, it looked like at sometime it wasn’t viable. It’s very sad, but E23 is Adorable and maybe Mom will be more comfortable starting out with just one. She did a great job feeding for the first time. The babe was lunging for it, but calmed down shortly afterwards!🐥❤️

How do you know she is a first time mom? I've been busy this summer and fall, and I must have missed it when this was determined. Thank you in advance for your response. I haven't noticed her markings indicating she is young & just coming into maturity, so I am curious how we know this is her first brood.......she sure has done quite well if it is, much like M15 did with E7 & E8. ❤

Yeah this whole thing is tough after being away. They say they think two females fought and killed Harriet so guessing this is one of them yet everyone's cheering about her. It can be pretty hard to come back to watching.

​ @iggybud6684 I can't speak to any rumor regarding two known females fighting our beloved Harriet & as far as I know, that's just a rumor. Harriet flew from the nest tree at approx. 536pm on 2/2 presumably to chase away an intruder & she never returned. There weren't any witnesses nor was anything seen on camera, so it's all speculation if she had a battle with an eagle or eagles & which possibly caused her demise, or which eagle it was. Regardless of whether or not F23 was responsible, it's their way of life in their world. It's hard connecting our hearts to a new female when the memory of Harriet is still a bit raw but I personally have fallen in love with F23 and I'm over-the-moon thrilled for M15 to have this new chapter, especially after all the challenges last season! I was just curious if she had any markings I may have missed that tell us her age because she sure seems like a fully mature & well-seasoned mama but as I said, much like M15 did with his first brood, maybe she too has strong instincts as a new mama. I hope you are able to find peace and can enjoy the nesting season with little E23 & the new female..........it's so lovely watching the bond that she & M15 have. If Harriet were human, I imagine she would be thrilled knowing her mate found him a wonderful partner! If it helps, just remember that it was once thought that M15 was responsible for the demise of Harriet's first mate Ozzie and even so, we all fell head over heels for M15, just the same as we are now thrilled about F23. This is their world, & even though it's sad about Harriet, we can rejoice knowing that M15 has a new mate & there is a new chapter being written. Sorry for my long reply. Sending you positive thoughts....I hope that you can watch the new season and new chapter and find comfort knowing that M15 has found a new beginning with a very lovely mate and one who is already an incredible mama. Harriet's memory will always live in our hearts as does the memory of Ozzie and I find it helpful knowing that this is their world & their way of life even though it's not always easy for us humans to accept. Just try to embrace the beauty of their story and how their instincts are what drives them....there never was any ill-intention for any of the females who may or may not have caused Harriet's demise, it's simply a part of nature & their natural instincts.
