Call me crazy, but when I play Stormgate, I want to figure out builds on my own from scratch first so I can truly enjoy the process of figuring cool things out on my own. I couldn’t do that for StarCraft because I followed guides and watched good players play often. But now that I have a better understanding for RTS, it should be fun to figure stuff out on my own :) Not to take away from this video - I’m sure it’s great for anyone who wants the guide 😊 peace ✌️

2:35. I am somewhat sure that it also makes the difference of denying experience for veterancy. If you deny the last hit the enemy Vanguard won't get any exp. Not totally sure.

I'm really loving the stripped-down version of the game available in the beta. With only T1 and T2 to worry about, learning is a lot easier. If the game is like SC2 or WC3, T1 and T2 will be where most games end anyway.

Play both! It’s the best way to learn the game and you’ll find which one you like most :)

Personally I like Infernals/Zerg type creatures. Mass numbers to overwhelm the enemy but people tend to migrate to certain styles. I'm generally more of a fan of macro over micro and cheap units are usually easier to macro in battle.

This just looks confusing to me. Guess I have to just play the damn thing myself first, guide videos are not good to me until then. I don't even know which units/buildings are named what so it just makes my head hurt. :D From what I gather though, these "camps" are kind of like treasure sites from AOE III.. Been waiting all day for this game to finally be playable, I guess I'll get to it in an hour.

Been playing it the last 3 days, it's pretty decent. Some bugs obviously but I can see a lot of potential in it. Nice to see it from the beginning as well. Last few years of Starcraft you knew it was a dead game and there was nothing new coming out.

Just a heads up, the game is nothing like Grand Strategy games. It’s more fast paced, almost identical to the style of Warcraft 3 and StarCraft 2; very competitive RTS games with a focus on 1v1 balance.

@@christaylor3604 it's clearly designed to be Starcraft 2 like, it was literally made by people who worked on Starcraft. It's meant to be the next iteration of RTS since Starcraft died and Blizzard killed it, even though it was still the most popular RTS out there.

I've learnt the CORE with SC2 which entirely uses the right side of the keyboard, and a tonne of other hotkeys across other games. These days I can pick up new hotkeys super quick, and tend to just use the defaults until I've played a bit and can choose where I want to adjust it

Is there a way to make the command groups more like SC2? I don't know why or how but I'll put production facilities on, say, 2, but they always wind up with units in them and it ruins it.

Because by default it auto adds all army units to group 1 and ground units to group 2. You can turn it off in gameplay setting.

Just turn off auto control groups and you can do everything exactly like SC2

Stormagte is in beta as playtesting, the factions are not complete, and there will be a whole new faction.... at least 1-2 years for stormgate to get released.

pros as in they've won lots of money competing in RTS + are spending a tonne of time playing both tournaments and ladder in the new game. Obviously not getting a lot of money but are the top players so far

Played 13 games so far, the only 2 "wins" I got was people surrendering at the start. Amazing that there's already smurfing during first day of open beta. :D Looks like this game will take a long time for my tiny brain to figure out, getting stomped hard. But that was to be expected.

Ok finally my first real win at 1.1K MMR. Looks like it's fine to spam lots of static defense here early on with Infernals. I was going by SCII mindset of not building more than one per base until my eco grows stronger, but here these things are ridiculously cheap. Still have no clue what to do about these Vanguard dogs that come into my base way before I can get a single army unit out. All I can do is try to micro workers against them which I'm not a fan of to say the least. They kinda make start of the game more annoying than in SCII, which I did not expect from this game, given all the FSG talk about making it more noob friendly.

lol I was 16 wins 24 loses and I barely got to 1000 mmr I think the ranking is busted either because of low pop and or it's still in beta though I did lose all my placements and then went on a win streak after a guy that beat with air told me to try mass air. so I may have messed up my mmr.

Hmm I have total of 7 wins out of 20 games so far, 4 of them real wins and 3 people who surrendered at start, I assume to smurf. MMR is 1.2k now. Last win I had was a nice long game where I finally figured out how to make flying units and did my first "mutalisk harass". My macro becoming bit better with faster expanding. Feels good. Reading fights is still very hard though, usually no clue if it's a fight I should take or avoid.@@Bagginsess

Seems they got every one of the top content creators and even a bunch of pros. My hunch is a big chunk of the $35M they raised went to paying these guys to push the game. It sure as heck didn't go into art design lol.

But yeah I'm most surprised about PiG jumping on this bandwagon. I suspect he signed an NDA and agreed to hype the game in exchange for cash long before he knew how bad it would be. I can't imagine him taking money to hock this game knowing how it would turn out.
