I was wondering if you go into detail about using the Field Calculator in any of your videos? By "going intovdetail", I mean a thorough explanation of how to use it for begginer, intermediate, and advanced Python Scripting. I haven't check any other videos. The reason I ask this is because 1) there isn't much really in depth explanations that I have found, and 2) I'm a GIS Technician I and I use Field calculations often.

Ryan, did you find a good video or course on Python for Calculate Field? I as well am most interested in learning Python to be able to write simple Calculate Field scripts in model builder in Pro.

hi I'm 20 years old, and starting my first year of college in September, "GIS and urban planning" I'm a bit nervous having to learn coding, do you NEED to learn coding to get a high paying GIS job? and if so, is it just basic coding I will need or will I need to know advanced coding?
@GIScienceRIT
@GIScienceRIT Жыл бұрын
I always recommend to students that they have some knowledge of even basic coding, the more you know the better as it is a specialized skill that will make you stand out from the rest of the crowd when looking for a job. If you haven't seen it already check out this video on the channel

Hello , I have ArcGIS only . is it still applicable ?
@GIScienceRIT
@GIScienceRIT 2 жыл бұрын
Hello, some of the ideas are relevant to the arcmap software, so just look for the comparable tool in arcmap as opposed to arcgis Pro like the python window has one starting point

May I ask why the python ship with arcgis pro is v2.7 ? should not be the V 3.x ??

I think it just all depends on what version of arcgis you're using, take a look at this for some insight

@@GIScienceRIT I installed the arcgis pro 2.5, and I have checked the version of the python is 3.7.10,but I can not find it at the ‘windows start’. there is only the idle 2.7 which is installed with the arcmap 10.2,so how to make the idle3.7.10 shown at the windows start like the idle 2.7?

@GIScienceRIT
@GIScienceRIT 3 жыл бұрын
Yes you can find some of the similar Tools in arcgis 10.3, just look for the comprable tool all based on what you see in the video, however arcgis Pro is the future so that's why I used that software thanks your comment
