This is one of the funniest cartoon network shows. Alot of the episodes have me dying of laughter. Grim is the best character. I like how he is the most normal character dispite being the Grim Reaper.

Fred Fredburger at least only got one focus episode after Keeper of the Reaper, and had a minor role in Boogey Adventure. I loved him. I was too young and didn’t have the internet to be part of any fandom so I don’t really know how he was received, but me and my siblings loved him. The final season sucked.

This show. I *loved* this show as a kid and watched it even through the *LOUD* moments, although I remember not liking the later seasons as much as the earlier ones either.

Personally, all the seasons were amazing, despite the original synopsis of the series was getting a bit weak after Season 2 and the first season being boring (but still enjoyable). I still think the seasons after Season 2 were big improvements for the show as I love the use of fourth wall breaking and the comedy became more hilarious.

As someone who liked the series the whole way through, I do understand your preference for the earlier seasons of its run; it felt like the show was more story driven and actually "Grim". Definitely got more ADHD as time went on.

This is a great retrospective on the series, what it did right, what it (arguably) did wrong, and all the insanity in between. This was another show that I never watched until *way* later, I grew up on Nicktoons / Toon Disney and not really CN all that much, so my first exposure to the series was to season 1 via the few tapes I had collected of CN circa summer 2003 and I have a lot of nostalgia for that season as a result (keep in mind - I first watched it in the late 2010s). I think season 2 overall has a stronger package of good episodes, but season 1 perfectly nailed the black comedy that the show was originally trying to go for. The later four seasons have their standout episodes and moments too, but like you, I could've never get into them as seriously as I could the first two seasons. IMO, the show always had its loud / grating moments, it just became more apparent during the later seasons and kinda lessened the impact a bit (though still funny). In particular, one of my favorite episodes of season 2, Tricycle of Terror, is pretty much *carried* by Sir Raven throwing a complete tantrum over his story for no adequately explained reason. The meta humor was also less of a thing early on and it doesn't always hit, but I really like moments like the one where they inform us about the backstory using clips from the pilot and slightly acknowledge how "off" everything looked. It was probably for the best season 6 skimped out on it overall, it felt slightly more confident in itself than the prior seasons.

Not to bring religion into this, but I had an ex-friend who claimed this show was "Satanic" and "Anti-Christian" to the point where I finally left him and started watching Billy & Mandy again. At first it was only out of pure spite and the first season barely making me laugh, but it got way better the more I watched it. Season 2 was probably the perfect blend between dark and humorous. Though Season 3 and beyond was a full on comedy at that point, it is one of the funniest shows I've ever watched. I don't know how we lived without Dracula until "Home of the Ancients." Surprisingly, they get more mileage out of General Skarr here, than in his own show, Evil Con Carne. But yeah, it's too bad Cartoon Network wants pretty much nothing to do with Billy & Mandy anymore.

This show is a miracle because I should naturally hate it because it has two major things I can't stand. One: the gross out humor but they managed to make it pretty funny. Two: it was incredibly mean-spirited and hateful. The main premise is about two kids keeping someone as their slave. One of them is extremely stupid and the other is a demon child. But I still love the show because they rarely go too far with Billy stupidity or Mandy's cruelty, it had very clever humor(when it wasn't grossout humor, that is XD) and I had a pretty huge crush on Grim growing up(and still slightly do). But I mean, come on, he was usually level-headed, nice(even if he was the Grim Reaper), funny, and kind of cute despite being a skeleton.

It's funny how i really started getting into Fairly Oddparents and then Billy and Mandy around the time I stopped watching Spongebob. As a kid i always thought it had more in common with FOP, but i guess CH Grenblatt being in the show was a big factor. Spongebob just didn't release new episodes often, but I gues these shows just kept expanding their universe while Spongebon had already peaked and gone stagnant. Also, got mad that Sandy became a much smaller character and they started overusing Plankton. Oddly, I found Chowder annoying.

i feel the same, when i first watched it around 2 years ago i despised it, i warmed up to the show recently, tho i would say the shows more of a guilty pleasure to me than something i actually like
