For 90 days, I tried learning a new instrument for the first time -- the guitar :) I started learning (as a complete beginner) using KZbin tutorials, popular play-along songs, and a "Learn to Play Guitar" book. I played for 15-30 minutes every day and then time-lapsed my videos together to see the progress.
At the beginning, my fingers were burning. I was a complete beginner and was playing the guitar for the first time. I couldn't even play a single chord properly. By the end, my fingers had thick calluses on them and I could play along to a lot of popular songs. What started out as pretty painful ended as super fun, relaxing, and
Thanks so much for watching :) Be sure to leave a comment and let me know if you try playing the guitar for a few months!
Here are the videos I used to learn:
/ spencerchale
• Guitar play alongs
• Play along to popular ...
And the book I used: Guitar Method Book 1 by Hal Leonard

A quick tip for beginners: it's easier to press down the strings if you trim your fingernails on the fret hand.

Good tip! I'd like to add a tip. If you do work/activities that require you having your fret hand in water often, start wearing those finger condoms. Your calluses will remain hard as a rock. No pun intended with any of that.

@@SCARRIOR idk if it has anything to do with IQ. it's more of skills; if you practice enough on something, you'll eventually get better and better with time. I started drumming about 12 years and at first i didn't even know how to hold a stick. Now i can confidently play pretty much everything on time, order and accuracy.
@Nariyaga

@@pedromunoz3445 I think IQ influences it as well as your personality, certain people just have natural ability with certain things, there was a video by that well known guitar teacher KZbinr where he explained the different levels of Guitar Students, I was one of the higher levels -- on my 3rd day or so I was already playing tremolo songs and scale switches, but again everything needs practice and discipline, I'm a bit of a perfectionist and I tend to hyper-vision with things I'm into (i.e. stop talking much, might forget to eat, spend hours researching and practicing the same riff over and over even if it's 95% right) so these various factors all add into things, also remember that some people have a natural sense of Rhythm which I'm sure as a drummer you know has a major impact on early learning, all and all big props to this young lady, rock on!

@@pedromunoz3445 IQ shows how fast a person can learn. An ability to adapt really depends on your IQ. Well there are a lot of other factors but IQ plays an important role tho.
