Learning to play the Malaysian Sape

I have started learning to play this traditional instrument from Sarawak. I have been fortunate to find a teacher, Alena Murang" in Kuala Lumpur. This excerpt is from our first class on Tuesday 1st December 2015

its actually from sarawak and the name of that song is sai ulai aka datun julud which is female long dance from the kenyah tribe and people are saying its from indonesia but its actually originated from sarawak before being passed onto indonesia.. i know cause ive been playing this instrument for few years now, you just need to add dron, more tapping, and slur in order to complete the song.

that's from Indonesia, sape is also typical of Kalimantan

@@romeobick you say its from indonesia cause its sarawaks fault for not promoting the instrument thats why you guys took advantage of it but now in its getting better, last few months there was a sape movement concert in miri and they will be doing it every year now, there was also a Christmas sape celebration. Edit: sape was actually ORIGINALLY born in sarawak borneo few hundred years ago before indonesia even knew about it.
