Thank you for this! I think the examen is a great gift even Catholics are not aware of. That you did this interview despite being a protestant is so graceful, and shows how much you want your listeners to grow spiritually. Very little decent coverage in youtube on this topic, so thanks again! God bless!

I got great advice from my Spiritual Director who is a Dominican. When you are already in prayer or a state of focus on God stay there because often getting started is the hard part. So now I try to go to daily mass and have my daily prayer time immediately after and its so fruitful.

I know a lot of Cajuns, dated one for years. Been to Louisiana a lot. Many are cradle Catholics and are now nominally or culturally Catholic, at least that was my experience. But I think there has been a resurgence since the pandemic.

@@GospelSimplicity Yeah! Absolute silence as means to access God (and stimulate mental prayers) and a true examen of conscience over our deeds, omission, words and thoughts. Who does it humbly enough these days?

Well, I was very surprised to know and learn that the Ignatian Examen is not a type of examination of conscience! The Jesuit spirituality is so rich but so new to me. Thanks for the video, Austin, I finally stopped to see it through.

I had a vision of Jesus after my first time joining a prayer group on KZbin. Now he is with me all the time. I was brought up by an Atheist. So it’s all very surprising to me.

@@immaculateheart1267 I can’t remember the name of channel but they were talking about Aliens reptilians hybrid and that’s what attracted me . Then they had a sick friend who needed prayers . It was first time for me ever in my life. After that I had a vision of Jesus. Was brought up Athiest and did not believe it was possible.

@@WildStyleStayWild I used to be a new Ager ( I used to practice witchcraft/occult) before I came to Jesus. When I was in the new age/occult world everyone was talking to what the though were “aliens or spirit guides” and I was too, but Jesus showed me demons(fallen angels) desguise themselves as extra terrestrials and reptilians in order to deceive people - use your discernment and be careful, we live in a deceptive world - love Jesus with all of your being and pray without ceasing, read Holy Scripture and the writings of the Saints - Godbless.

This was a very helpful interview. I am looking forward to practicing the prayer of examen. I am more informed and Father Thibodeaux has made the prayer to be life changing and transformational in my life of following Jesus.

Austin, thank you so much. This is beautiful and timely. I'm going to start the Examen now. You truly are a seeker of truth. John 1:47 NKJV Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward Him, and said of him, “Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no deceit!” Austin, I know He sees you as His beloved child, in whom there is no deceit. May our Lord draw you into an ever more intimate union with Him. Christ in you.

It less of an emptying of the mind (mindfulness) which could leave you open to anything vs a focused address to God specifically

Wow!! This is so great Austin, i've been dying to attend an Ignatian retreat if not for the pandemic. Also Austin since we're doing ancient prayers, is it alright to request about The History of The Rosary? It's bone-chilling story how and why St. Dominic received this prayer , specifically to combat the Christological Heresies that was rapidly spreading at that time. Fr. Donald Calloway is an expert in this and has written quite extensively about it. What's more his very generous about invitations to share this topic. Quality as always Austin, thank you. God bless.

I’ll consider it!

Agree to this. The Rosary is even older than the Examen, and it has a long and rich history. It is a central prayer in Catholicism, and certain Protestants such as Anglicans say it too. It would give your audience some good commentary on the role of Mary in leading us to Christ.

Another great interview Austin. So many good ideas here ! This will help me with my examen! This also reminded in certain ways of some sentiments found on a traditional prayer card: Take Time For Prayer No matter how busy you are, take time out for prayer, even if only for a loving glance. It is the wisest investment of your time you can make. The few seconds it requires to raise your mind to Me are richly repaid by deeper peace and keener mental efficiency… Again I say to you: Pray! Pray! Pray! Do not tell me that you are too busy to lift your thoughts to Me. Give Me of your time, and I will do half and more of your work. Give Me of your thoughts, and I will enlighten your mind. Give Me of your will, and I will return to you my peace. Give Me of your love, and I will fill your days with joy. Give Me of your prayers, and it will open to you the inexhaustible treasures of Heaven.
