It is not nasal. It's perfect! People think they sound nasal, but that is ok in singing when you do mixed voice. This is the key! Keep practicing more the nasal sounds and it will grow mixed voice!

That's awesome! As a baritone also that started this process 8 years ago, i had to tell you about it. I sang horribly for years and started doing warmups/exercises everyday from Jeff Rolka and others. I also learned the theory from many channels and other sources. I go from bass baritone up to high baritone depending on the days and songs i'm doing. Even after 8 years i still have tension on things and keep finding out how much i don't know. lol When i first started studying it seemed to me the really good artists that have the biggest ranges took at least 10 years to get there and i think i should be fully smoothed out by then.

Really glad you posted this because it shows the reality of developing mix especially for a baritone whose natural range is more detached from the head voice range which I think makes it slightly more difficult. When you hear teachers on KZbin teacher about mixed voice, they can make it seem like it’s so simple and that you can get it in an instant actually does take years of practice and working on it for it to become something reliable, convincing and pleasant to the ear. Keep up the work because it will pay off!

For me personally as a Baritone, Strong Chest Voice, Strong Head Voice, Once you have worked on the previous two, You then need exercises switching you Between Chest Voice, Pharyngeal voice and head voice. You need to do them daily, will take around 2 to 4 weeks to see the first changes. 90% of vocal coaches online will not tell you how to do the exercises correctly forcing you down the voice lessons route. Too many people on KZbin get stuck in pulled up chest, and you need to learn how to transition using pharyngeal voice. This with other exercises to learn how to smooth the break will get you to where this video is.

@@dbanksey216 @D Banksey Thank you for your kind and helpfull reply. I have developed my chest voice with a very decent resonant sound and up to a G#4. From there, if i push it further, the tendancy is the transition to a light twangy sound. A mix, but not a very decente one. I have not worked on my head voice yet but i know some ken tamplin exercises that i can use to do that. Could you tell what exercises i could use for the pharyngeal voice?
@dbanksey216
@dbanksey216 Жыл бұрын
@@luizsoares4847 Hard to describe in Text form, because the exercises' alone will not help unless they are done correctly and shown as an example, but will give it a go. Pharyngeal voice is the sound you make when you say the Word Sing, and isolate the NG of that word. If you say just the NG part, feel where its coming from, it should have a buzzy feeling around your nose area, but, sound is coming out of your mouth. You get a very Ringing Buzzy Feeling. When you transition up from Chest voice, and you hit the G4, you should move your resonance up and into this place, where the NG Sound is coming from for the higher notes, and as you go back down, shift the resonance lower again. Think if it like changing gears in a car. So if you did the NAY NAY NAY Exercise, and you get to the point where you are leaving chest, do not let it flip into Falsetto, it needs to flip into this NG Space with all the buzzy and ringing feeling, effectively you are staying connected to your chest voice. This will bring more of a chest sound quality. Chord Closure is key here as well, to keep it with a chest quality. You really need decent support with Chord Closure to keep it all together.

@@luizsoares4847 No problems, glad it helped, forgot to add, don't forget through all the above, keep your Larynx Neutral, If you let it ride up, you will start loosing chest quality. Keep Jaw Relaxed, don't let Jaw move forward, the Higher you go, open your mouth a bit more, don't let your mouth go wide either, keep it like you would when speaking. As you get better at it, start bring in Vowel Mods, to give it a richer undertone and make it easier to sing a note. Singing is all about ensuring you keep your Vowels pretty as we sing on Vowels, don't let it go splatty on the vowels.

Your E vowel sounds too tight, but other than that, fantastic. It also probably seems way more nasal to you, than it actually sounds to us. Keep grinding!! Edit: won't criticize without offering a solution, try thinking "Ear" and not "Eee" when you sing the í vowel, it'll help you open up, and carry the note all the way through 🙏🖤

Not cringy at all, youre doing it very well. Just gotta practice balancing oral/nasal resonance, but the vocal folds mechanics of "hold" and stretch are spot on. Maybe practice the form of the vowels, from F-G4 and up to make them more stable, mainly opening your mouth more vertically.

@danielito750
@danielito750 Жыл бұрын
@@gillianomotoso328 bcuz you want people to remember your voice. It's harder if you wanna sing in all tessituras available. I dont recall Mariah Careysinging like a Baritone. She'll always be remembered as a Soprano and her Whistle register. And the same applies to so many other great artists. They usually just stick to a single tessitura.
@gillianomotoso328
@gillianomotoso328 Жыл бұрын
@@danielito750 singing lower than you readily can is harder to pull off than higher - and Mariah is not a baritone no, but she did sing Stevie Wonder’s low-crooned “You and I” in the original key at an awards show back in 2002. Augmenting the voice and pushing it to expand in its capabilities *can* elevate it to memorability, absolutely. People seek fearlessness and masterfulness when it comes to voice, and arguably in many settings at least the first over the second. Mariah Carey at her best has had a five-octave range. You think she didn’t excavate some of it out of her naturally mid- to low-set soprano voice? Granted, yes, there is some natural proclivity to these things, but those who do not dare do not find.

@@gillianomotoso328 I believe you're mising the point here sweetie. First of all, being able to sing an F2 doesn't make you a Baritone. That's a misconception. Por instance, A Mezzosoprano can sing perfectly fine in the 3rd Octave, same as a Tenor, however, she's still a Mezzo, bcuz she sounds like a Mezzo, yknow, a female voice. Mariah will never be able to sing like a Baritone, her voice isnt designed to sing that kind of repertoir, she can't afford to go toe to toe with the best Baritones, that's ridiculous, and she doesn't need to. She's a great soprano, she has a light female voice, and that's where she shines the most.

1:15: "For I know". The pitch went down on "know". I think it happened because you decreased the energy or/and you are trying too much to sing pure vowels instead of modifying them. This intention results in splatting as it is easily seen here. When you splat on the "I", it takes way too long to get to the position for the "know". Best advice: Keep the mouth in a square shape and think of the mouth going up and down rather than sideways as you did. You also splatted on "peace". I suggest you play again this video and pause every fraction of second. You will see that the shape of your mouth varies wayyyy too much. It goes everywhere. Last point for now: When you go higher in pitch, raise your chin and open your mouth vertically more. When you go lower, lower your chin.

There is no such thing in the male voice as 'mixed voice' or head voice for that matter. The only distinct registers and fry, modal and falsetto. They are actuallt different vocal fold wave forms . Your mix here is modal voice influenced by falsetto. You sound like a good music theatre tenor to me. All is going well. Keep it up.

Not having read or seen much more: are you sure you are baritone, and not bass? Saying that I inquire about the natural speaking voice, not what you have achieved which in German might be some narrow sense of Fach. Anyway, I found thrill in higher notes being higher than you are. Then, I was surprised about "butchering" a guy like Frank Sinatra. I do wonder about the male singing in the low. What I was up saying: you got a deep voice and should be attrated by Frank Sinatra - what does "to butcher" in a strict sense mean? If sheer range - belting - is what you're in for - the phrasality, you say "nasality", is no achievement but should be according to what I assume is your approach. Vice versa, as you got a deep speaking voice, Frank Sinatra should be no thrill to in terms of his deep range as sheer range. This leads me to some new understanding, approaching, the concept of mixed voice. My guess now is that if you mingle phrasing and range you get mixed, refering to high male voice.

@@clmasse the term is chest voice because of this though. Yes, it is most technically called m1. But it is also called chest voice. And mixed voice occurs when the chest register is thinning - namely alongside laryngeal tilt or cry - or when the head voice is “reinforced” through twang. There is mix 1 (m1 thinning out) and mix 2 (m2 or head voice being reinforced with twang). Essentially the two primary registers can take on qualities of each other to create a fluid, connected full range.
