The thing is people laugh not because you can't speak the language but the laugh because it sounds funny to their eyes when you speak it .Well they may be launching at u right now but later they will be amazed and will be clapping for u when you know how to speak it properly. I wish that I could with u guys in your house so that i can teach you more.

Born in south east London stayed in Ghana for 2 and a half years. I knew what everyone of them mean't because even after coming back from Ghana to stay in the UK to finish my studies i continued to learn Twi by watching the old Twi movies that had their subtitles in English. It also got to a time where i began to watch the Twi movies without the subtitles. If you guys want i can send you some You tube links to some of these Twi movies which helped me hear a sentence in Twi and then its translation in English at the same enjoying a movie.

If you want to learn Ghanaian languages, you need to remember they are largely tonal. A slight change in tone changes the meaning of words, even though the words sound the (and may be spelled) the same. Watch your tonal changes. That's key to speaking Akan, Ga and other Ghanaian languages.

The Acheampongs you've done well, really. I believe the best way learning Twi it's by first learning the alphabet. My tonation at times is off due to not learning the alphabet first. But I speak and understand the language fairly well. Don't let nobody discourage you speaking Twi. People can laugh, but they should correct you afterwards. All the best!

The African Superstar mentioned you guys in one of her videos( even though she didn’t know your actual names) regarding promoting Africa. As soon as she referred to there being a black couple from the Netherlands 🇳🇱 I knew it was you guys. By the way, are you familiar with the following KZbinrs: Blak-it, Woyde Mya, The African Tigress and The African Diaspora News Channel? All do a fantastic job in promoting the continent for those at home and abroad. Woyde Mya lives in Ghana in another region but you could check out his channel if interested. You’re all doing a fantastic job in helping to display myths about the continent and by helping those in the diaspora to prepare themselves for the culture shock when relocating in the continent. Believe me, England is a dump and racist too. I’m currently sharing a house with mice and other rodents because the housing association refusing to carry out repairs! Anyway on the continent is better than this depressing hell known as England. Sorry for the length of this message but Africans think the West in paradise - it ain’t!!

Acheampong Adventures It’s been going on for years and It’s affecting me and my family psychologically. You see, very hard to get housing here due to price and availability. I would urge Africans not to risk their lives in coming here - they don’t want you here! Have you heard about the Windrush generation? Well, when this country was facing a labor shortage, England looked to its former colonies for help( the Caribbean) to fill the void only to tell those citizens years later that they had no right to be and the onus was on them to prove their British citizenship. Some were even deported back to places like Jamaica where they didn’t even know anyone. You can look it up for yourself: the Windrush generation on this same website. Please tell Africans not to come here, as it’s not what they think. Many came here thinking that the streets were paved with gold but found it was paved with shit instead! Please check out the channel’s whenever you have time. Thank you for all you’re doing for Ghana and the continent.

This was soo good and entertaining as well. I understand Twi fairly well but like Kevin I feel shy to speak because people laugh because of my British accent 😅. You guys did well, well done! Some Twi words sound similar and a change in tone makes them mean something totally different so that's what confuses me.
