I played violin for about 6 years, so here are a few tips that I hope will help you: 1. Please get a shoulder rest, it makes it a lot more comfortable to hold the violin. If you can't get one right away, use a sponge attached by a rubber band, that's what I did before I got a shoulder rest. 2. When placing your fingers, I suggest putting down your first and second finger with your third, so that it is quicker to change notes. 3. Your fourth finger is your pinky finger, and you really need to stretch to put it in the correct place. Your third and fourth finger should be about the same distance apart as your first and second. You can use a tuner (there are free apps you can download) to find where the correct position is. 4. Right now, don't worry too much about shifting into third position. But I'll try to explain it anyway. When you move into third position, you put your first finger where your third finger goes when you're in first position. When you move you hand, you move your hold hand, don't leave your thumb behind. You'll probably be able to find some useful tutorials on KZbin that can explain better than I can. 5. To hold your violin correctly with your left hand, when you're holding it, move your elbow inwards until you can just see it under your violin. This will help you to reach the G string. You also want your wrist to be straight, don't have your palm resting on the neck of the violin. I think someone else commented a website that had some helpful images. 6. It's also good to keep your nails short, because you use the tips of your fingers. My violin teacher told me to think of it like your fingers are like ballerinas balancing on their toes. 7. It sounds dull and boring, but practicing scales and doing other exercises help a lot. It think you said you were already doing some exercises, which is good :) That's all I have for now, if you want to know anything else, just ask. I'll try to answer as best I can, I haven't touched my violin in almost a year.

recommendation from a violinist: practice scales! they are so helpful for playing violin and the fingerings will get easier. I wouldn’t try shifting until you can figure out intonation like sharps flats and naturals so you don’t confuse yourself. I learned shifting in my fourth year of violin, now you don’t necessarily have to wait that long but it’s good to take your time (: hope this helps!

GIRL FOR ONLY A FEW WEEKS PRACTICE YOU ARE DOING AMAZING! I have been playing the violin for a long time and omg when you were playing the demon slayer opening, it might be a bit rough around the edges in terms of bowing intonation your tuning was pretty good for someone who only just picked up the violin. You have blown my mind 😂 If you want to be more comfortable when playing I suggest getting a shoulder rest but it isnt a requirement. If you have any questions feel free to ask 😁 (Also, yes, the pegs of the violin are very scary) 😂

How much was your violin? Was it laying around the house? Or did you buy from Amazon? Because that can really cause a difference depending on the price in the sound.

so um- I play violin for- how many years-- maybe 8-9 years- so um I would put your middle and ring finger on the white dot on the bow so its covers it and you can hold the thumb on the flat side of the bow so not in-between the hairs and wood cuz that's how I learned first- and then also it would be better if you held the neck of the violin and not touch the bottom of your palm to it also I think it would be better if you also learned scales for fingering and then as you go up to 2 octaves and 3 octave scales for shifting AND- the fourth finger is the pinky, 3rd is ring finger, and so on but the thumb isn't considered a finger (lol) I feel kinda rude commenting this but here ya go 👁👅👁
