This movie lives rent free in my mind. Beautiful photography. Impeccable performances all around. I think by the end of this decade this will be considered one of the best movies of the 2020's.

The best dramatic scene is when Dominic is rejected by Schiobahn. Perfect performance. His ending affected me like he was my own real life son. 😢

Thank you for your thoughts agreed this was a great film that I enjoyed muchly. It was interesting how he pulled off making the film as you say both mythical and realistic. I too thought about that after seeing the film and was surprised it worked.

My brother hated this movie because, apart from being bored with the drama, he couldn't find any believable reason why Colm was being so brusque and cold with Paddy and why he was resorting to self-harm over it. I, however, enjoyed it and even prefer it to In Bruges, which I thought was trying too hard with its humor and applied it in places that didn't work for me, but it was alright. Anyhow, The Menu and Banshees of Inisherin were two notable movies I remember liking from 2022. I'm curious to know how you interpret the commentary to The Menu if you ever get to it. People say it's an "eat the rich" movie, but I disagree; I thought it put all the relevant parties in creative industries, at their worst, in a microcosm and has them go at each other.

I am a sucker for this director's films, the only real drawback I've found is that his work can be theatrical and stagey. Brendan Gleeson's character is one of those aspiring artists who is always waiting for the right conditions to make art, so he never actually does it. That's my interpretation
