The Babe movies are great, Pig in the City is one of the best sequels ever made in general. It does everything a sequel should do; it stays true to the first movie but also brings something new to the table.

The funny thing is that one could actually say that it's a "darker sequel" to the first Babe movie.

My kids were young when this movie was released, so I watched it with them, but only half paid attention to the story. The soundtrack got my full attention, so now I have a great reasons to rewatch this film.

The city reminded me a bit of Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s cities.

This movie was definitely for families and kids. In Mexico they played this during the summer over free TV at prime time. I remember many kids and people talking about it the next day. My parents had a restaurant and this movie was being played many people stayed extra time. This was so long ago.

Knowing the original script had the pound people actually being a secret Vivisection Lab; it makes me happier to see that Babe frees most of the animals caught earlier and exemplifying Millers themes of caring for animals and the corruption of the medical profession.

Also, is there any word on how the animal actors were treated on and off set?

Hi I've just rewatched both babe movies after decades. Wow pig in the city is so different from the first one it was very strange and quite dark. They let Miller go wild on this film. I really enjoyed it. The last third was very whacky. Underrated masterpiece.

Spot on recommendation. Watched with the teenagers last week on my suggestion, and we all loved it.... Thelonious is one of the great characters of recent times, and he never is quite what you think he is... One indicator of seamless special effects is when you watch a movie, and cannot figure out how it was made.

I love Babe Pig in the City. I grew up with that movie. It will always have a place in my heart. Especially, Babe. His personality is so angelic.

Anyone who enjoys Raising Arizona, Edward Scissorhands, Pee Wee's Big Adventure, Warner Brothers cartoons and/or the Marx Brothers will enjoy this. The camera work is amazing and the color palettes are beautiful. Yes, there are dark challenges, but Babe and his female "human" (the Farmer's wife) surmount everything with goodness and determination. Plus, it's staggering how the animals all look 110% like real film and they move in real ways, but one suspects it was CGI that made most of this possible.

I haven't seen this movie since I was 5-8 years old in the late '90s/early 2000s. I do remember liking it quite a bit and being drawn into the world - I'll have to rewatch and see if that holds up!

As a 7 year old kid, I thought pig in the city was the darkest, meanest, most horrific situation to be in. I mean where is babe’s mother? Father? Family? (Or in his case his adoptive dog mother and the human farmer father). But now at 33 years old. I see being in a setup like babe in the city to be very exciting. To be in a house with dozens of sexually active adults who are not related to you. Ohhh how adulthood changes our views!
