This is good but please get the Gaelic speaker a better mic. So much of the pronunciation is lost to the bad audio quality, it makes it that much more difficult. Not sure if it's a bad mic or if he he is using the mic on his headphones and just has it much too close. It's a real shame

Gaelic is one of the oldest languages of the ancient world that is still with us today. It came from the mouths of the Celts and Its just amazing how the echos of a time long since past can still be heard today. How this language survived well over 1000 years is a mystery but were certainly blessed to have it still. May it continue to grow.

Gaelic isn’t a Celtic language but is lumped in with them, just as the Gaels are not Celts, the Welsh are though.

@@fearnpol4938 Gaelic does come from the Celtic language. Irish, Scottish and manx are Q Celtic (Goidelic) languages and Welsh and Cornish are P Celtic (Brethonic) languages. I've been learning Scottish Gaelic for a bit now and i just could NOT SLEEP last night. I opened youtube and this was right at the top. Popped it on and went right to sleep. I woke up knowing words i didn't before. This is great. Found my new sleep track! I should add I'm a lucid sleeper and my brain responds to this sort of stimuli very well. I remember what i hear in my sleep and my brain makes it into a little movie for me. So this is awesome.

I’ve got not one drop of Scottish in me, nor Irish, but I started learning Irish before a vacation there. Duolingo helped, so did some videos and a live class. I got turned off by some people in a Facebook group; very snooty about native speakers vs “urban” or “new-learners” pronunciations. Hey, I understand wanting to preserve the authenticity of the language, but don’t be all nasty about it. Duolingo added Scots Gaelic a while ago and I switched to that. Seems much easier ( more sound bytes with Scots vs Irish). This is great, glad I stumbled up on it! I really enjoy hearing the phrases spoken and I will take another poster’s advice to slow down the speed for more difficult words.

Why do I hear norse languages in this. Like feasgar it means something totally different but it feels like a Scandinavian language. Or am i going mad?
@bdnl62684 жыл бұрын
Some parts of Scotland were invaded by Vikings . Norse influence can be heard in the Scots language in the Northern islands and the East Coast - including words. It also influences the accent of Gaelic in the Outer Hebrides (Eileannan and Iar) - especially in Lewis. Feasgar however is related to Latin - cf, Vespers (Evening Prayer,)

@@maddog8841 another reason what pisses us off AND the northern and southern Irish is when Americans give it "oooo im from Scotland my names scottish back to my DNA test or ancestors back to my great great great great great great great great uncles sister's cousin's 2nd aunt toenail from the custard pixy in the forrest" . we jus piss ourselves laughin when they self proclaim self delude all that bullsh1t to us aswell. Maybe at 1 point (IN TIME CENTURIES AGO) there was scots or irish in the family, but that died waaaaayy long ago and anything that was there has long been dead . Easiest example they don't understand us don't know that we are a separate individual country have different history culture language flag heritage bloodline slang spellings. and yet they claim they are without ever even setting foot here HAAAAHAHAHAAA thats the best part we piss ourselves laughin for. Self proclaimed American scotsman asking a question. A pure blooded scotsman replies. The American "whaaaaat" . mind explosion that it isn't the epicenter of the world as it was deluded into thinking same as its self proclaimed gobshyte that was saying they were from Scotland. Ahaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahaaa. of course only the real proper original true blodded Scotsman know this (UNLIKE THE CARDBOARD CUTOUTS THAT SELF PROCLAIM THEMSELVES TO BE) so no don't tell me what i can and can't what is and isn't about me my blood my fellow countrymen and my birthplace and homeland . you got that . This is ok for phrases and single words however you can not learn this in your sleep and you can not put a bunch of words together with English grammar. So this video is ok for words and phrases not for sentences.
@loriewilkos69214 жыл бұрын
I think for me it's great for sentences. As a fairly new learner it's important to understand how to begin and end a sentence. (Chan eil, Tha, A bheil, Nach eil, - Ann, orm, ort etc.) Then learning the meaning and placement of the words in between gives me the skill to make sentences.
@loriewilkos69214 жыл бұрын

Sorry, the female voice is much louder volume than the male voice, it causes an audio disruption in focus. I strain to hear muffled Gaelic pronunciations, hidden behind some synth-ambient noise.. then suddenly the woman's voice is sharp and high volume. I made it 3 phrases before it annoyed me too much.
