You are wonderful, and I appreciate you today! I'm crying with my harp as my heart is broken. My 12 year old constant companion was torn to shreds yesterday by a big dog, and my grieving is a very sad necessary part of existing in this cruel world I do not understand.
@sthom4bad6 жыл бұрын
Had to respond. What a horrific and traumatizing way to lose a friend. I don't understand why the world seems predicated on pain and suffering either. All I know is that beauty and goodness also exist. I had an animal friend die badly and asked someone "where is God in a world like this?" She said "I see God in your love for that animal."
@perinatalcares6 жыл бұрын
@@sthom4bad thank you so much! I see her name everywhere and it is a grieving process, but, I really appreciate the thought that you see God in my love for her, but mostly, her love for me, she came back to life for me, but could not endure the surgery. Christylynn playing helped soothe me as tears flow...

ALOHA, Dear Christy-Lyn!!!! Really lovely, like ALL of your videos!!!! However, the holidays are a difficult time for me, due to my being widowed. This year will be my 8th Thanksgiving and my 8th Christmas without her. I sure miss her!!!! O Come, O Come Emmanuel is my favorite Christmas song!!!! I first became acquainted with it in December of 1962!!!!

I have the book of 50 Christmas Favorites by Sylvia Woods. I have been playing these for Christmas and sharing then in "Sing-a-Longs" at Nursing homes, and Assisted Living Situations to help build my confidence in a less stressful situation; especially since I have only been playing 13 months. I really love the idea of longer arrangements that I could do for a performance, like the ones you showed us here. I will download some and definitely keep them for when my confidence soars to a level where I can face the public and know that I will not embarrass myself! I can't wait to do this! I love performing on other instruments, but I really can't wait to share the harp with everyone. It has such a soothing sound!

@Annette Ieda That is such a blessing to people! The harp is my all-time favorite instrument. I'd love to get my own harp and learn to play music as calming and soothing as this type of music. People who are harpists are so blessed and bless and heal others with their music. 🎶 ❤

I've been playing pipe organ and piano professionally for decades and I love all the big repertoire and making lots of noise on a huge church organ. Harp is not an instrument I ever really 'heard' until Google autoplay put "Christ Child Lullaby" in my stream a couple of Christmases ago and I haven't been the same. I don't want to spoil it by playing it on anything other than a harp, so this year I decided I would get one and learn how to play it. And so I've been watching harp tutorials and Christy's are excellent and I just decided to see what this one was about. There is lots of other Celtic music that is charming and interesting. I want to play it all. Wish me luck. I'm going to rent a Dusty Strings Crescendo 34 and see how I get on.

Anne's arrangements are fabulous. My teacher and I love them. I am intermediate level I suppose and I can sight read these easily. A little practice and they sound beautiful. Glad you are giving her some exposure. Also, some of her arrangements are very easy to blend with a traditional arrangement of the same tune to give you a little bit longer piece. I am loving her arrangements and already have a Christmas gig. Yikes!!!!

Promise I'm going to watch your video but just in about 2 months. At the moment it is much too warm to feel like Christmas. In fact, it feels even much too warm for October. Weather ist becoming quite irregular and unreliable up here. Nevertheless, I love the two Christmas performances you once posted on this channel some years ago: Marys Lament and Mary did you know.
@Brallallalla6 жыл бұрын
I'm afraid I am unreliable as well. Of course I was so curious that I had to watch your whole performance right now. Just like a child who cannot wait for christmas to come to get its presents. ;) But actually, it was worth while! Especially I got hooked by those titles: "We three Kings" "Deck the Halls" (I first understood "Dig the holes" (?!?!?)) "In the bleak Midwinter" (Which also becomes more and more incomprehensible in the Northern Hemisphere.) and "God rest ye merry Gentlemen" ( Do you know the comedy version conducted by "Mr. Bean"? kzbin.info/www/bejne/qmjcqGqpqbtpe7s ) I also liked the last piece you played. Unfortunally, I did not understand the name.
@LearningtheHarp6 жыл бұрын
😂😂😂 That’s so funny!! I agree, it’s much too early for Christmas music, but I wanted to give the harpists time to buy the sheet music and get practicing 😁 The last piece is called Variations on a Welsh Carol. You can find some recordings on KZbin of the whole thing. Very beautiful!

I want to learn Carol of the bells, Christ child lullaby, that night in Bethlehem, silent night, and oh come Emanuel. This is only my third day playing so I think I will be trying these next year. Thank you for these songs! They all sounded great. Have you tried playing Mary did you know or breath of Heaven before?
@LearningtheHarp6 жыл бұрын
I love both those songs!! I have a video on my channel of me singing Mary Did You Know as a duet with a friend, and I used to have a video of Breath of Heaven when I sang it years ago with piano. You have good taste in Christmas songs! 👌🏻 How’s it going with learning the harp so far? 😃
@kianabachmeier41976 жыл бұрын
I've been playing for a year and a couple months, I started last September. The Christmas music I did this year included Greensleves (by far the easiest, I learnt it last year), Huron Carol, Carol of the bells, and silent night. Suzuki Harp School Volume 1 has some beautiful beginner pieces including a great version of silent night!!
