Thanks so much for the videos! I'm moving to Ireland after High School because it's absolutely beautiful there, and the colleges aren't as expensive as ones in America. My step-dad has family there, wonderful people.

I will have to say I get on with them well , I read Irish easy but struggle speaking it BC there's nobody to speak too, this should be right ( I hope)☘.

Is é easpa cleachtadh an fadhb is mó, dar liom féin. Tá grúpaí éagsúla timpeall a thagann le chéile chun an teanga a scaipeadh agus cleachtais a éascú. Bíonn fáilte roimh chách, is cuma faoin caighdeán atá ag duine. "Is fearr Gaeilge briste ná Béarla cliste". We are all learners. Múna bhfuil grúpa in aice leat, b'fhéidir gur tusa an duine ceann amháin a bhunadh?

I keep seeing this on Duolingo but I can’t find anything when I google it! Some of the words have an ‘h’ added in, for example deirfiúr is sometimes spelled as dheirfiúr. It doesn’t say why but it seems like its used to distinguish my vs your? Is this an actual thing? Thank you 🙏

Excellent. Just curious though, the "dh" is pronounced as "g" , or is that only Munster dialect? Thank you
@LearnIrish5 жыл бұрын
You're very welcome, to be honest I never really thought about it because I am just so used to saying it that way but it would be a g sound in Munster, a light g sound in Connaught and the duit is pronounced like "bit" in Ulster.

Slender dh makes a y sound and a broad dh makes a g sound

Dáithí Ó. I learnt simply by watching Danes videos also bite size Gaelic with Siobhan and Pinterest and apps have the Irish language people have mentioned duo lingo as one app that does but simply go to google play or the App Store whichever applies to your phone /tablet , also plenty of websites that have phrases google them but remember to specify gaeilge otherwise you might end up with gaidhlig and that would be little use to you ! Love baile atha Claith ( Dublin ) got cousins in the city but also in tallaght. Just remember it does have dialects three Munster , Ulster and Connaught . Best of luck btw I’m australian bit of Irish descent with links in Cavan ( great grandmas family ) , then rest is Tipperary and on my das side his maternal grandmother was from cork so it is a few different regions thus a few different accents to deal with lol 😂
