Yes. Thanks for not adding any stupid music to your videos. They're good as they are.

Intro music kill a video series. Creators often make intro music 10X's louder than the video itself so you can never just let the video play without having to constantly adjust the volume.

Going through your videos while making notes and testing with an SSH connected VPS is going great so far thanks for info. I've been giving you some deserved likes. Thanks for not adding music too I've got lofi on super low in the background while I learn. Good stuff appreciated.

I'm a 2 year newbie to linux and I learn something all the time. I am not afraid of the command line. I ran a WildCat BBS for years on Dos and OS/2 and 95% of BBS ran on batch files. I know batch and bash are different as day and night mostly and I feel good about using bash, it's the little things like ".." in front of a file name to mv ../file.txt... That is so cool... Thanks for the videos!

Thanks for the Info. Im trying to get the rust off, last time I worked in computers was back in the C64/128 days. I remember some DOS commands from programming, but the cmds I used then are now aliases and I get the error messages. lol.. pretty sad that Im older than the first Apple and IBM personnel computers.. See, you can teach dinosaurs new tricks.

Can I ask when you would use the “/“ vs not using it? Example. cd home or cd /home.
@oscargm1979
@oscargm1979 3 жыл бұрын
cd home is a relative path, it means change from here to a directory called home cd /home is a absolute path, it means change to a folder that is in /home (the root and then home) If u say cd Desktop u must have visibility over Desktop, u must be one folder before...again,is a relative path

using mv to rename a file was the somewhat confusing thing for me. But I have gotten a handle around it.

I have multiple folders that each contain folders. I want to move those folders to a single folder. Is this possible? In other words subfolders from multiple folders. Folder 1 contains 10 subfolders, folder 2 contains 20 subfolders. I want to move the subfolders to a single folder.

How do we remove a directory ?
@silverkittyzen
@silverkittyzen 4 жыл бұрын
You would have already figured this out by now but I'm replying anyway. rm -r will remove the directory recursively if the directory is empty, you can use rmdir

The actual "Moving and Renaming Files" part starts at 3:52, the first 4 min is pointless for the way this video is titled
