Excellent presentation of what appears to be a superior method of attaching Locator retention housings to an over denture. Sure beats the old "salt & pepper" methyl methacrylate method. Can't wait to try this new material.

Curious. Does the fact that it does not have a resin primer mean that the mechanical retention is the only thing holding the resin to the denture? Is the denture chemically bonded to the resin with this work flow? I assume a chemical bond is the reason behind the need for resin primer. If it is only mechanical retention that exist with this martial, then long term, wouldn't bacteria start to get b/t the resin and the acrylic over time. I am thinking it may start to smell and discolor.

I'm a dental lab tech and I can tell you for a fact that using this light cure material makes the denture weaker and it will cause the denture to break a lot easier . since your not getting a chemical bond to the acrylic. Yes the light cure stuff bonds to itself but not the denture acrylic and this is where the trouble starts . The thin acrylic you have left between the out side of the denture and the out side of the light cure material is now super thin and the denture can be broken on both side with one good bite from the patient . The attachment space is already making the lower denture weaker as it is so making it even thinner to allow room for something that is not bonding to the denture is making it extra week . I can't tell you how many times I have had to repair a broke lower denture and flake out the light cured crap and fill it in with denture acrylic to make it stronger and keep it from breaking . If you want the lower denture to keep breaking then use the light cure stuff . If you want a strongest denture then use the denture acrylic . Yes it might be faster and easier for you at the time but mark my words the patient is going to be calling telling you my denture broke where the attachments are at . Now your going to have to send it off to the lab and they are going to have to make a model with analogs in place cut the crap you add out fill it with the correct material and your going to have to pay for it . Attachment repair costs are close to 100 dollars for the time it takes to fix your shitty work with the light cured stuff . Don't get me wrong I will do it all day long and take your money and say thank you very much , or you can do it the strongest way and use the denture acrylic in the first place . Trust me all the dentist I have pointed this out to and have shown this to no linger use the light cure material on a lower denture . Its been a while now since one has come back broke and when one does sure enough they added the light cure crap again . I usually call them and remind then not to use it on the lowers . it seems even a 100.00 lab bill isn't enough to get them to stop . But hopefully the bill will help them remember . I'm one of those techs that think more about whats best for the patient instead of doing things the easy way . I wish more Dr's felt that way .

@ steve dental. I agree to a point, but it really depends on how much the dentist hogs out the denture to make room for the attachments If they are conservative, the weakening is minimal

YOU LITTLE POMPAS ASS! How dare you climb on top of your high horse and chastise this man who generously shared his professional experience with others! He didn't even swear once, unlike you which BTW makes you immediately sound like trailer trash. You're a Dental Tech with an opinion, big deal, I'm not nor have I ever worked in any dental capacity but I am sitting here at home making my own five tooth dental Partial! I found this man thoroughly interesting and I'd like to thank him for sharing this video.

Great video! Thank you. Question: if the denture was not stable with the processing inserts, prior to removing the excess material on the lingual, what would be the steps? Would you hallow out the area and remove the entire housing and start the process over? Would you create new vent holes?

What happens after this thing fall out after 8-16 years ? What to do next ?
@Sertao2013 Жыл бұрын
Don't worry its not going to take that long give it 6 months and the housing will pull right out when they take it out of there mouth . Then you will have to do what you should have done in the first place and sent it to the lab tacked into place with acrylic so they can finishing adding the acrylic that bonds to the rest of the acrylic . Now you are going to have to flake out the light cured stuff that's not bonded at all to the acrylic and start all over . This time do it right and use acrylic .

What kind of adhesive or anything at this point can I use to get a better grip on my lower dentures? they are my immediate I got all of my teeth pulled in my dentist did not inform me that I was not getting a temporary pair so I'm stuck with these immediate dentures they're just too big and very shallow so I need something that will fill in the space and also keep them down, they are fine until I try to eat something then they will start flopping around I need a product that is as strong as super glue I just haven't found one and I've been through a lot of them . If you can give me some advice Doc I would really appreciate it

Such small pieces and parts! Is a dental dam used so nothing ends up going down the throat?
@christopherunger4693 жыл бұрын
I know your comment is from 2 years ago but using a dam would make it impossible to do any of the steps requiring you to seat the denture. Also this treatment is for patients with no teeth so how would you secure the dam in the first place??
