Put Option Explained - Protective Put Example

Buying a put option gives you the right to sell stock at a fixed price within a specified time frame. A typical put option grants you to the right to sell 100 shares of stock from the investor who sells you the put option, and you have to make a decision about what to do before the option expiration date.

Protective puts have been a staple for a long time. Also like selling puts at times to start a position at a lower price.

this is difficult to understand because they mixed up and overlap the term buyer and seller over and over again so if you're not familiar with the context it's going to be really confusing, they should make another term instead, now what occurs in your mind when you read "buyer right to sell, and seller right to buy," confusing right? unless you're already educated/experienced in this arena.

If u have money like that u better off just flipping contracts. Example i brought 50 Target $215 call options for $9/ share the day before earrings sold them for $16/ share the next day . Now im about to pick up the $230 puts next week. it's no point in owning stock options are way more rewarding

Am I correct here: 370 dollars (3.7 dollar put sell) ÷ 9,000 (90 dollar strike)= 4.1% profit in 86 days if the options strike remains above 90 dollars So, as you can do this roughly 4.2 times a year(365 days divided by 86 day period) you can get 17.4 % a year of profit - brokerage fees. Doesn't a well picked stock go up around the same? 🤔

When the guy made $1000 on buying a put. You also have to deduct the premium. Am i correct with that. So essentially he walks with six hundred and somethinf

You should redo this with same format as call options and utilize emily and Jimmy. When you go into the 3 price scenario it gets really confusing. I think it would have been much easier just to explain 1st just if the price went up instead of trying to do 3 different scenarios at once. My brain just totally lost it at this point. And i have a Masters in Finance 🤦
