Nissan has been cutting quality for over 30 years. German cars have perfected the art of making very expensive cars with patchy reliability. They live off of the status of the name more than actual quality.

So in other words, don't buy anything with a CVT
@MH-fb5krАй бұрын

In theory CVT transmissions should be superior to conventional automatic transmissions but they still have a ways to go.

STI Impreza that I owned didn't have any issues in it's CVT, at least maybe the problem it's who made it tbh
@pokecat612224 күн бұрын
Even if they don’t have issues, they’re just soooo unsatisfying to drive and usually very slow. I once drove a 2020 Nissan pathfinder with a CVT and I couldn’t believe how sluggish it was. Like if you wanna pass on a two lane road, it just ain’t gonna happen 😂
@jamesmustin7289Ай бұрын
Don’t buy a car that is turbo charged, direct injection, CVT, and has a computer viewer and control devise! That only leaves you pre 2000 cars. My 1997 Honda is looking real good.
@dannybryant6873Ай бұрын
Consider a Toyota hybrid. Great for what you don't get. No turbos. No GDI without port injection. No sleazy mechanical CVT. No belts (accessory, timing, or Wet). No start/stop system. No 11 speed torque converter automatic. No torque converter. No 12 Volt starter or alternator. No belt driven AC compressor (it's electric like your home frig). Electric car goodness without the electric car drawbacks.
@JK-iv4ikАй бұрын
Direct injected and CVT yes I agree, Hyundai. Turbos are ok as long as you maintain them properly. I have a 17’ GTI with over 125K and it’s running nicely!
@jamesmustin7289Ай бұрын
@ You just hit ! Do you think for even the masses will take care of a turbo and all it entails? So in mass the turbo should never be part of Of consumer transportation. I believe it is planned for the masses of cars to fail on purpose. It is the screwing of the public.

I have a kia forte, and I LOVE it. People complaining about the ride and comfort need to remember that it is supposed to be an affordable econo-box, not a Rolls Royce. You can't have your cake and eat it too. I personally think the forte is an excellent car
@patotteguzman700128 күн бұрын
I also own a 2019 forte and it’s really comfortable and to me it runs perfect. What we really have to consider is oil consumption. I am already asking for a solution (still under warranty) but I don’t have any other complaint about the car, better than many of it’s competitors
@randyniemi496328 күн бұрын
Nuts to CVT and turbochargers. I own a 2014 Impala with a 3.6L engine and a 6 speed transmission. Lots of smooth power and zero issues. Excellent ride quality and handling.,
@Ricsar311 күн бұрын
The problem with turbocharger is that people do oil changes 6k+ miles and not at 3k miles (depending on oil color). In other words, maintenance is not a key factor for most owners. 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️

So I want to buy a cheap car but then complain it's not as smooth as a Cadillac and doesn't handle like a sports car. Makes total sense!

The problem that you didn't mention with the Kicks is that those ratings probably apply to the old one which was hideous. Not that I really trust Nissan to deliver anything great these days, but you have to also acknowledge that the brand new Kicks is literally just barely coming out right now, and those ratings don't necessarily reflect on the new one just yet and judgement should still be reserved. At least the new one looks a thousand times better.
@lgbfjb6450Ай бұрын
Dumped my 23 Jetta Sport manual at 10k miles. The dealership I traded at also sold Volkswagen and they had a bunch of Jettas at 10k miles or less. Besides being a low quality piece of crap, it doesn’t take long to realize the downside of turbocharging an underpowered engine. Great gas mileage but downright dangerous pulling away from a stop without sufficient boost. Will be my last Volkswagen and my last turbo.
@davestvwatching240828 күн бұрын
People who buy lower price cars will almost always hope to buy a higher level car, so CRs question of "Would you buy that car again?" unfairly makes cheap cars seem less desirable.

You talk about how slow the forte is, but the forte you had in the video was the GT which at 200hp, fully independent suspension and cool sounding exhaust is more fun to drive than most variants of the civic, corolla, and mazda 3. Not too mention how generously equipt it is. It even comes with cooled seats among a host of other cool features.

My Jetta GLI is not the same car as the base Jetta. Different engine, DSG, and LSD. It's a blast to drive (like the GTI) and super fast (0-60 around 5.5 with the DSG). Plus reliability wise never had an issue. And an inexpensive tune and some inexpensive suspension mods make it a true pocket rocket (my tune has it at over 350hp at the wheels) mant rivaling BMW's for the money. I agree that the base Jetta sucks. My lady had one. Underpowered, vague steering and handling, etc.

Noticing its a lot of smaller "affordable" cars on the list. They arent all that affordable and when you're paying that much money its hard to feel cheated if its subpar. Its 2024. It really should be illegal for any car to have under 160 hp. And why does it seem impossible for these companies to make quality reliable cars? They have been doing it for decades. I had a 2018 Honda Fit and was completely floored with how low quality and unreliable it was. The industry might say these cars are cheap but they are aimed at people who low finances make it a very very big deal. These cars are incredibly expensive. And when you look at these products that take up huge amounts of your income and they end up sub par, how are you not suppose to feel anything but dissapointment. Automakers have given up on the segment.
