I want to get into making my own straps. Takes way too long waiting for someone else to make them and they always come out wrong it seems. Where would i find those plastic templates and the tools? What kind of material do you use for your inserts? I'd REALLY love some help with this. Please and thank you

You can use any 1mm vegetable tanned leather. The tools are all listed in the video before using it, or see my last video kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZm7nWOPgJ2BqNk, I show it on begeen At least you need a utility knife, a stitching chisel, any rubber hammer and good glue, such as Fiebing's Leathercraft Cement For best result, you can add wooden slicker, edge beveler and, maybe, edge kreaser Templates can be bought here www.etsy.com/listing/704229303/

Hello. I'm just wondering, why are two different leathers always used on watch bands? Why can't the same leather be used in two layers?
@NovgorodskyLeatherCraft7 ай бұрын
I don't always use different ones. It depends on what kind of leather is used for the face. For example, the shown in this video can also be used on the bottom of the strap. But still, for the bottom it is better to use leather that has good protection from moisture (sweat).

Hey, I’m curious. With the holes for watch band & length. How do you know how long you need for wrists? Like if your watchband maybe fits 7 inch wrists. You extend it to make 8.5 inch wrist. This would be by just adding 2 inches to the length? & adding more holes?
@NovgorodskyLeatherCraft3 жыл бұрын
The video starts by showing you how to calculate the strap length. No extra holes need to be made. If you count everything correctly, then only three holes are enough. I do five, simply because it looks nicer that way. If your wrist is 8.5 inches (216 mm), subtract the length of the watch (~ 44mm) from this value and divide it in half. This will be the length of the 12 o'clock side strap (86mm). The length of 6 o'clock side strap will be 86 + 45 = 131mm Punch the central hole at a distance of 86 mm from the watch and two more hole at a distance of 7-8 mm from it, one above, the other below.
