Great wee cutter. You have inspired me to modify one of the typical wood strap cutters by cutting off the bulk of the handle. For me I have found the handle tends to affect the control of the cut. When I get down to Makers Mill in Wolfeboro in the next day or so I am going to make a video of me destroying or improving the wooden strap cutter. If the modification does work I will be sure to link your video with mine on KZbin. Can you now advise me on controlling the anticipation of getting back down to Makers Mill? THANKS for sharing! Cheers...Freddie

Modifying a regular wooden cutter is a great idea! In fact, you are absolutely right - a long body is more difficult to control. Any awkward movement can cause the cut to shift. In this tool, pressing the material to the flat side is important and the most comfortable position of the hand is the position in which the blade is flush with the index finger. Just bend your finger as if holding a pistol (like a hook) and everything will immediately become clear to you. I never thought it would be convenient until I made this belt cutter :) I hope your experiment will be successful! Best regards, Alex.

Life is a dangerous thing. If the hands grow from the right place, then everything will be fine. And if they do not grow from shoulders, then you can open the veins with a dull spoon.
