In this video I spend a little time going through the stamping tools that I use everyday for my floral tooling patterns. These tools are stored in what I call a tool roll which allows me to keep them contained and gives me the ability to carry them with me if I'm traveling home for a tooling session.
Every craftsman has his or her own preference when it comes to stamping tools, but this is what I use. I hope you find this video helpful and feel free to comment on what works for you.
Be sure and visit www.dgsaddlery.com for more tutorials as well as floral patterns we have available! Thanks so much and hit the subscribe button!

I color my stamps with a magic marker or acrylic. Used to stamp for a local saddlemaker. One day I seen a couple of my colored stamps in his bunch of stamps. So I gotten them back.

I'm really looking forward to the tutorial on bar grounding. I'm just starting out tooling and they have been a big source of frustration.

Maybe I can get my tools organized now... but after seeing Al Stohlman's workbench I don't think anything I do will be satisfactory!

What tools do you recommend for someone starting out? Is it worth the investment to buy barry king over craft tools?

I need the numbers of tools please I love your tutorials I learn from it i am still a beginner I live in Egypt and I am taking a course in carving it is a new art here I only have the basic tools the 20 set I feel I need to buy the tools that makes my work accurate and cleaner it is very difficult here to buy it so I have to ask my son in England to get them for me that’s why I have to know the numbers of at least the most important ones as a start and maybe later to buy the others sorry for troubling you but really I am very keen to learn thanks again.

I would use the tools I planned to use as a template kind fold it up over the part of the tool you want secure and sizing it from there as you go with each tool make sure to leave enough on top to use as a protective flap.

What tool do you use for beveling around flowers (tight spots)? Or do you just use undercuts?
@DonGonzalesMaker
@DonGonzalesMaker 6 жыл бұрын
I use undercuts for the inner curves and crowners or a small beveler for the outer curves on leaves and flower petals.

@@DonGonzalesMaker Do you use checkered or smooth bevelers and crowners? And are there checkered undercut stamps?
