I think Wave is still better for those of us who carry a pocket knife too because we don't use Leatherman knife anyway. Considering the price of the Arc, honestly I'd rather keep my Wave and simply buy another folder knife in MagnaCut. And one-hand ergonomics is really just a gimmick for us regular folks. The only people I can possibly see having genuine use of it is people with disabilities, specifically those who lost use of one of their hands or who lost one hand entirely.
@FreedomFox111 ай бұрын
One handed use is handy in lots of situations… say you’re holding something in place with one hand and need a little plier assist with the other… or you want to unclog the line trimmer without setting it down… or you’re up a ladder. It comes up a lot, especially when you’re trying to move things along quickly.
@mickeypopa11 ай бұрын
@@FreedomFox1 Fair point but I still don't find it crucial for such use. It's better to simply be more logistical in your approach whatever you're doing. Example, if something needs twisting then prepare the pliers and then proceed with the work and so on. Also if you're on a ladder you can still use both hands unless you're hanging off of it horizontally like Stalone in the beginning of Cliffhanger. 😂
@michaelkaliski76514 ай бұрын
The Wave has the advantage of plain edge and serrated blades but the Arc Magnacut blade is far higher quality steel. Single handed opening is a mixed blessing, the Arc will bite like a Jack Russell puppy if you hold it the wrong way. The biggest elephant in the room is that the Arc is made in the USA from USA sourced bits while the other models are mostly made from Chinese parts assembled in the USA. So that explains the hugely inflated price. If you just want the tools, go for the Wave. If you want easy access and smooth tool deployment then the Arc is better. The Magnacut blade should last several times as long between sharpening sessions compared to the standard steel blades, so better for frequent use. Of course the Victorinox Spirit beats both models for comfort and price! I have them all, so I can draw that conclusion with confidence.

I was a wave guy, then the p4 came out a blew it out of the water as far as functionality and durability. the p4 lacks the removable screw driver bits and the micro screwdriver and the full size file. This looks like the best of both worlds. Anyone who actually puts these to the test knows they’re worth every penny.
@need100k10 ай бұрын
I have to disagree. The P4 has a short file (too short) and the screwdriver is not interchangeable which is a huge thing for me since I carry the ratchet accessory with the set of allen bits which I use quite often.
@jasonciccarelli42179 ай бұрын
Okay if someone who actually uses it every day the ARC is way better. And what kinda person except a novice uses scissors to cut wire? I also can use the knife as my edc. If you actually use the ARC like a real tool and not just carry it around you will see far superior. You're comparing two different tools. I have carried a wave plus for years and used it at work everyday almost. The ARC IS a way Superior tool for someone uses it like a tool

Do you do any grinding or metal work ? I use a wave plus every day and I think it’s great. I think the Arc would get full of metal shavings and be horrible to deal with.

Dude is almost intentionally not showing the best part of the arc. It can be used completely one handed. He doesn’t want to open the blade one handed? I can swing the pliers into position with one hand let alone the blade. All the other tools come out so easy and you can flip out what you want and lock everything into and out of place with one hand. Also no mention of how amazing to have a leatherman with magnacut blade steel. That makes the price difference in itself.

I love Leatherman. But the arc is a big flop. Not worth the $240 price tag. For the everyday blue collar worker It does not make sense. The arc is for desk jockeys who want to have an expensive tool and a nicer blade. If you are in the field depending what you do , the surge and wave + are and will continue to be the best option. The free series is a gimmick. I also saw someone here say that the magnets attract metal shards 🤯 I haven’t even thought about that. Guys save your money. Leatherman has to go back to the drawing board with this one.
