This is a comparison on the Leatherman Mut Vs Mut EOD. I use this as my every day carry and love it.

I just inherited an EOD from my father in law, he passed away this past week. I'm not a shooter but may start collecting leatherman. I need to order the sight adjustment wrench, it wasn't in the sheath and I don't feel like asking a grieving widow to look for a small tool in a mountain of accessories she could care less about. I will always have this cool tool to remember Ray by. He was a navy veteran and was gone too soon. He always used to say "Stay Frosty!" He had so much cool stuff my mother in law knew how much it meant to me and let me pick from his edc knives, I got a Kershaw launch 1, I also got one of his bug-out bags, that's where the Leatherman was, among other cool gadgets. One of my fondest memories of him is when his NY trooper pals brought over a P90 and let me lighten a couple mags. The stories they would tell, I will miss him like my own father.

good review Mr. Cody...I didn't know about the differences in the wire cutter inserts (my utility Mut has the standard cutters)...it really is a very durable and capable multitool huh?...

I have A ST EOD in my pack. The cutter inserts are 154cm, carbide can crack like on the Gerber's.

bought myself one of these about a month ago (being abit of a leatherman collector i spose u could say) and ironically its my most expensive but at the same time the most useless multitool lol. unless u are into your guns etc i would go with something like the signal or super tool 300. Very cool, sturdy and serious looking bit of kit.. but not ideal for everyday use

The EOD cutters will cut stranded wire well. Standard wire inserts won't fit in the EOD.

Great video. Thanks so much but question for you. Can I use the REGULAR wire cutter replaceable blade on the EOD version? So I get they are replaceable but are they interchangeable too? Amazon doesn't have an explanation or even a description of the items in the multitool. How dumb is that?! So your vid is very helpful. If you haven't already you should upload this video to that listing on Amazon.

I own a MUT EOD. As you already know the MUT EOD's wire cutters are regular wire cutters but the MUT Utility has the Regular and Hard wire cutters. Can I install the Regular/Hard wire cutters meant for the MUT Utility on my MUT EOD? Are those parts interchangeable? I'd appreciate any help since you own both the Utility and the EOD.

I had the same thought and had a look at some Images of the replacement parts. They seem to be, because at the mounting points both look the same and also have the same outer diameter, but I couldn't try it so this is also just a guess.

what would be the best one for the regular day using. I had the Leatherman wave multi tool, but my ex lost it when I gave it to her to keep because I was playing with her son. Now I want a new one I will be in the military soon so I want one of these I still don't know but which one should I buy besides this? The Leatherman wave multi tool again? The scissor, screwdriver, knife, saw, bottle opener and wire cutters did it for me besides that I can't find of any extra tools I would use so which one would I buy and where can I buy it the cheapest? I bought it a black Fridays at Dicks or target. I will try to buy these 2 again next year near to Harrisonburg at Virginia. Please give me some advice.

Jamie van Vliet Yeah, the Wave is way more practical. I would stick with the Wave if you are going military. More practicality rather to only a a few speciality tools. Hope that helps.
@jamie2015
@jamie2015 6 жыл бұрын
MrCodyBlair Dam. Actually I was hoping you was going to tell me it wasn't so big of a deal losing my wave because a specific other one was more useful anyway, I don't like to buy the exact same because my stupid ex lost mine and it feels just bad to buy the exact same again because someone lost it. Or do you know another one with screwdriver, scissor, saw, knife, bottle opener, wire cutters, ruler, wood/metal file and diamond - coated file? Also which MUT do you recommend for gun fanatics?
@pavelgrygoryev1140
@pavelgrygoryev1140 5 жыл бұрын
My advice to you - buy Leatherman MUT. My opinion - it is more practical for everyday use, than EOD. I also use Leatherman Style CS, and I like it's scissors very much. Also, Style fits well into a side pocket of MUT case. So, I keep 2 multitools in one case. And I have very good pliers, cutters and scissors in a compact and easy to carry compartment. Sorry for late comment, maybe, it is not actual already, but I have seen this video and read your comment only today.

On any of the cloth Leatherman sheaths, I very strongly recommend supergluing the damn belt strap button in place. They like to randomly come undone. I've emailed them, I warranty claimed one, and I've replaced several. They're all great sheaths but the damn button they use on the belt strap sucks. I superglue all of mine. I have my MUT EOD hooked on my range bag using the MOLLE webbing and I superglued that hoe. If you superglue it with MOLLE, leave one MOLLE loop unwoven so you will have the slack to cut away a worn sheath. Over time, the tool wears a hole in the cloth on the sheath and you have to replace it unless you want the tool to fall out.

Which material is the carbon scraper made off?
@MrCodyBlair
@MrCodyBlair 7 жыл бұрын
It's made of brass. It's a softer metal that barrels of guns are made of. That way when you are cleaning it doesn't mar the barrel of the gun.

Thanks for the video! The cutters are actually 154cm, not carbide. Gerber uses carbide and its terrible. It will never go dull but it will shatter if you cut something hard. These tool steel cutters are far supperior.
@Supremacy962
@Supremacy962 5 жыл бұрын
Not trying to be a jerk, but 154cm is stainless steel. Tool steel (such as A2 and D2) is not a stainless steel Nevertheless, 154cm is a great steel.
@TheKimjoh560
@TheKimjoh560 5 жыл бұрын
@@Supremacy962 I stand corrected. Altough, I must say 154cm is definatley borderline in this regard. Looking at the composition of many AISI tool steels makes it very obvious its mostly down to intended purpose rather than composition. The range of characteristics and composition between steels classified as "tool steels" is huge.
