I’ve had my Wave for freaking 7 years now and never knew it had a lanyard ring! It was a gift from my grandpa and I still carry it to this day

The big lanyard ring is a quick release eyelet. Like, you can hang your tool on a carabiner, and you just simply release your tool pushing the lock on the tool 😉

I removed my hidden lanyard to open up this slot for the quick release lanyard feature and still be able to attach the pocket clip at the same time.

In my opinion the provided lanyard ring lets you attach the tool to something like a backpack or keys whatever and detach it quickly.

I knew this, but I think it's more for being a quick detach lanyard ring so you can have it teathered and release it so it doesn't have some string getting in the way.

Iirc all leatherman models or most have a secret ring. The locking one that came with tbe clip is ment to be used as a quick release system while attached to something else for easy deployment btw.

If you’re willing to disassemble your tool I suppose you could swap out the built-in lanyard ring. That will void any warranty it may have though

I knew about the built in lanyard ring. I think the instructions mentioned it as a thing it had. I didn't find it until I had opened everything at once and really looked the tool over. I think the option of a detachable lanyard is interesting as having cordage run through the built in loop hampers the use of the tool. Putting it adjacent to the saw was a poor choice.
