Awesome, these look great. In my oppinion instead of spitting out dummed down tools, Leatherma should make a modular thing that you can build in your own taste. Like lego, that would be unbelivable.

Great video. Lots to consider. The bottle opener is great for removing seals & gaskets due to the fine pointed hook. The fins or ribs on the outside of the tool are good for lifting bottle caps, and work well as a flathead for opening electrical panels, etc. with flathead fasteners. Thanks for the video!

I built the first version in this video some weeks ago. I’ve really enjoyed it so far much better than the Surge in its stock configuration. I can still see a couple ways I might want to mod it in the future, but as is I think this is a definite improvement for my wants and needs. The ST300 file is more useful to me than the Surge file (especially the newer diamond file version), and it’s great to have the saw. I am not a fan of the proprietary flat bits. Everyone once in a while I drop tools and that flat bit disappears. Not the best. I’m enjoying the three flatheads and the solid ST300 phillips. No bits to loose is an upgrade. Having a full size wood saw and file are upgrades over choosing one or the other at partial lengths. If I don’t modify this further I’ll likely be happy: better screw drivers, better saw and better file, with one hand opening blade and shears. This really works for my needs. Thank you for sharing and inspiring me to try this out. It was worth the time and effort!

Very good modifications. Could you make a video showing how to remove the supertool screws, or indicate where you bought that special screwdriver? Regards

The tools used are made by Lokimobile on eBay , cost $32 for a pair with shipping. Keeps the screws in good condition

Leatherman makes a bit holder that fits onto some of their Philip bits. You should test it. I’d be interested in it if it worked well.

I've considered it recently for sure, i like how this is integrated in but I would love it if their adapter worked well.

Great video. Thanks so much for your offer near the end to share knowledge and invite questions. I would like to ask: (1) Which tool do you use on the knurled round fasteners of the ST300, Rebar, and others? Do you grip them with locking pliers, or something else? (2) When modding Leathermans, do you use threadlocker (such as Lock-tite)? Is threadlocker necessary? Would a joint without threadlocker need retightening too often? Or is it fine as is? Thanks!

It's a special tool made by a guy referred to as Loki-mobile on ebay. Don't know anyone else who makes them.

If I do get a Leatherman.. the surge looks pretty solid. I'm still not sure I trust those thin bits.. I know they aren't made for breaking bolts and stuff.. but if I'm paying 150 for a tool.. it better not break. I know they have a warranty.. but that's not the point. Can I depend on that to get the job done then and there?
@xlilnetx Жыл бұрын
They’re pretty good, some people online say the removable bits are designed to break before the bit holder does, surge is pretty heavy and heavy duty, if u want a great work tool with no removable parts to get lost I’d say get the super tool 300. Cheaper only thing u won’t get is the outside tools or the scissors. I trust the pilers on the surge/300 more than the rebar or wave, those are light duty tools or edc not really for work if I ask me, maybe if u got full dedicated tools in a bag I’d say go for the wave
@xlilnetx Жыл бұрын
Also the multi tools on this video are not full surge or st300 they’re modded hybrids. They put two different tools together to make one

Very cool. What's the best tool for undoing the large non standard fasteners on a Rebar or Supertool? I used mini vice grips and it scratched them up which was unsatisfactory. Figure there must an easier way.

What’s the best way to loosen the security torx pivot screws without stripping them, I know they have locktite on them. I want to remove the straight blade and mod it with a scalpel blade exchanger. Please advise, thanks.

I haven't had many issues T10 are relatively tough and Leatherman uses good steel. You can always use a heat gun to loosen it.

Hi I did some mods with my multi tools… I modded my wave to have the center drive arm from Gerber. You got to file the bits down so it will close properly. After doing the mods to combine super tool and surge what is the weight like. Did it get heavier?
