I just received my Surge back from Leatherman yesterday. I had broken the scissors, some inner tools were loose & saw blade was cracked. They replaced saw blade, scissors, tightened it all up n cleaned it. THANK YOU LEATHERMAN...EXCELLENT WARRANTY & SERVICE. I APPRECIATE IT IMMENSELY !

I just bought a used Leatherman Surge at a flee market on Saturday for $10.00. It has a broken can opener which I will replace. I cleaned any rust off the blades and soaked it in a jar of liquid WD-40 for two days to desolve much gummy crud that it had on it. I scrubbed it today, washed the residue off with liquid detergent and rinses well with hot water. I dried all the water off with the compressor and heat gun. It opens and closes 100% better now. I will oil all the moving parts today to make it smoother. Thanx for the video my Bladed Brother 👍 ⚔️ ✝️ 🇺🇲

I have a surge, a black out charge with the aluminum scales and 154cm main blade and a free P4. Surge lives in my house with a few additional bits, charge lives in my truck with the bit kit and the P4 is in my edc rotation. It’s either a p4 or a para 3. Great video, keep uploading!!

I just added the Surge to my edc. As a big man, in a big old industry of hardscaping/landscaping I need to this tool. Been carrying my fastback/knipex combo for a long time, gonna switch a few things around. That's for the video, I am a "big and heavy" fan of the Surge multitool, I see now why they call it the King

Good review 👍. I initially got the Leatherman Crunch cos I am a pipe fitter by trade and a set of vice grips will always be more welcome than pliers - pliers more suited to my electrician cousins and their knitting 😁. I then decided to drop hints to my wife about the Surge just in time for my birthday. Surge is a proper multi tool but it is quite heavy - if you carry it every day, something is going to give - the belt, the belt loop or the sheath.... Guaranteed! . I then proceeded to buy a Charge TTI cos it was half price and so much lighter with similar capabilities as the Surge....... however ..... My first choice carry is the Crunch along with a Knipex Cobra XS, a mini ratchet, a bit extender and a 1/4 " Allen key bit set. In my game, it all fits in one pouch and has proven a lifesaver.
@ultimateequipment23 Жыл бұрын
Thank you Matt and thanks for sharing. 😁 It is a heavy boy, I know the surge. As for the rest, I bet, but you need them. Will get a Knipex one day myself. Very curious about them.
@Maixo Жыл бұрын
@@ultimateequipment23 Knipex very handy for the smaller bolt sizes when used in partnership with crunch grips. Those pesky little brackets or covers that one comes across on the 3rd or 4th level of scaffolding..... Instead of coming the whoooooole way down to get tools out of your box 😄
@ultimateequipment23 Жыл бұрын
Yup, I would do the same in that scenario, by the sound of it 😅 I mean I tend to use my multitool more than my pliers from my main tool box - saves me opening my wardrobe plus the box - compared to the multitools that just sits there on a shelf 😅 A Gerber one, the sliding one, I forget the name of it.

I bought a surge and I realised that the surge is not really edc. The wave is more suited for edc. Not to happy with the scissor spring as it jumps when cutting and the file holder has a very sharp edge on the release point. Unfortunately I'll need to return it for the spring issue. I think excess play in the scissor rivet. I've bought a screwdriver extender and an led lenser p2r work to compliment the kit which all fits well in the nylon case.
@ultimateequipment23 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, the wave+ is a better edc tool. The surge is a chunky boy. I see, maybe a defect on that sample. Mine are ok so far.

Victorinox smokes the Surge, in price and quality. Being able to use any bits from any other kit is also really nice. No proprietary bits. The retention is also substantially sturdier on the Victorinox. I do like that Leatherman is made in the USA. But they can’t beat the Swiss in terms of precision tools unfortunately.

Great video, i own the skeletool cx and the Charge TTi i love my charge, but i think my next one will be either the surge or the free p2 ive owner the p2 before its definitely a great multitool not as sturdy as the charge, it gets the job done tho and the beauty about the free series is they get the beefy plier head, anyhow cheers Btw subbed youre Quiet lovely to listen to along with the great information right to the point style i truly enjoyed this video. The modular saw and scissors really do it for me when it comes to the surge all the other stuff like bit exchanger are just plus's great all around tool for sure.

I have the Charge TTI as well but after seeing this I feel like you get WAY more for your money with the Surge. I mean, what am I getting for the Charge? Titanium scales and a S30V metal blade?
@droidx63 жыл бұрын
@@Brian-sp3vt i traded for mine, but yes youre correct and thats what im thinking cause You do also get the bit exchanger but with the surge you get the Saw exchanger as well which is so clutch i mean you can go through most 2x4 easy peasy in a pinch you get the better scissors which wont be used 24/7 but that time you do need them theyll be there, the beeefier pliers? 🤠 I love my charge I'm sure you do as well but I'm with you brother I'm going to be upgrading to the surge soon just so I can have both haha

I actually broke pliers on my Leatherman surge, I was trying to remove a spark arrester screen on a leaf blower and they snapped. Grabbing it from the front and twisting to the side doesn't go well for them I don't think they really made to put Force on them in that direction... I probably could have gotten it replaced under warranty it's still less than 25 years since I bought it but I never bothered with the hassle. I have lost 2 charge tti and now decided to just keep the wave on me, they're just about the same but the TTI is more expensive and fancy
@ultimateequipment234 жыл бұрын
Ah wow sorry to hear that. Thanks for the feedback.
@fc4363 жыл бұрын
Leatherman warranty is officially 25 years but in reality is lifetime. Without purchase received. If your tools is discontinued they replace with an new upgrade model of same price. These is in Italy, Spain, of course USA and I think in all European union. I don't know in the rest of the world. But leatherman warranty is fantastic.
@joeresch87722 жыл бұрын
It's no hassle at all, just call them, get an RMA & send it to them. Their warranty program is the best. BTW, must have been a defect or something with the pliers or you're a beast. I've cranked on both my Wave & Charge and never broke them.

Problems, proprietary bits that are too soft and break easily, standard 1/4” bits are better and cheaper, if you think the scissors are the best you haven’t tried many multi tools, Victorinox and Bibury both have better scissors, surge are not one handed opening. Even the t shank holder doesn’t accept normal t shanks securely. Quality of present day leathermans is lower than the earlier models.
