You can pick up a basic kit on Amazon and some leather from eBay pretty reasonably, to see if you like it - the leather becomes more expensive as you buy better/bigger leather, and good tools are more expensive - you get what you pay for, but in terms of testing the waters, seeing if you like it, it can be done pretty cheaply!
