my dad bought me a J C Higgen saddle from sears in 1957 i still have it i keep cleaning and oiling it i was 14 yrs old when i got it and i am now 79

How do you handle the mold? Do you have e details on your restoration steps?

I have used Dowe Scubbing Bubbles and it works plus I have used apple cider vinegar with water and a little hydrogen peroxide mixed in water.

Yes Feibing's oil dye medium brown will work. In a couple of years these pieces will darken naturally. Thanks for asking.

What was your process for cleaning and oiling I have my grandpas maybe great grandpas saddle I need to bring back to life the leather is pretty hard been long while. What products and order I’d sure appreciate the tips

Wash the saddle off with soap and water this helped the leather to hydrate. Next oil the saddle with neatsfoot oil, olive oil or probably the best oil is Pecards if you can find it. It is good to oil the leather in light coats to you get the leather feeling right.

Just because it looks good on the outside doesn't mean that saddle should be ridden. The strongest part of the saddle now is the BLING. All the rest of that leather is just waiting for the day when it can give up and die. Hopefully that day won't be when you're in the seat swingin' a rope at a maverick steer.
