Leatt’s 8.5 and 9.5 ADV helmet kits provide premium protection and performance for adventurous riders. They are constructed from a multi-layered composite matrix which is a lighter and stronger construction than a polymer shell. Furthermore, the helmets features Leatt’s patented 360º Turbine Technology, where the energy absorption of the turbines helps reduce the low-speed impact energy to the head and brain. They are quick and easy to transition to off-road use, with an extra wide eye port compatible with off-road goggles and also feature a Pinlock shield.

Is this helmet guna have enough venting for mx and single track, or would it be best to get a dedicated mx helmet for that? I had an XD4 for a while, but that helmet was hot as hell to wear. Couldn’t imagine doing something athletic in it.
@RevZilla
@RevZilla 9 күн бұрын
If you are looking at riding MX / Single track, you should be looking at a dirt helmet instead of an ADV helmet. While this Leatt is decent at ventilation (without the shield on to maximize it), that's comparing it within the ADV category. Strictly dirt helmets like MX style helmets will shed unnecessary weight, and have more ventilation designed for the riding you are doing. We'd recommend taking a look at the Leatt dirt helmets if you dig these features but want to ride MX / Trails.

If you mean tactical, like EDC tactical, you might want to look at the Nexx adv helmets. Come with a ton of little gadgets and spare pieces for cameras etc, but at a heftier weight and size with all those features. But something to consider

Gotta say. Except for the weight my 800€ KLIM Krios was a disapointment. It's not the worst helmet i ever had but i was let down by the overall lifetime before the cheeck pads failed and the build quality is not up there. So the leatt can't be worse but at least i can have my beloved D-Rings back 😂
@ToriADVMoto
@ToriADVMoto 10 күн бұрын
@wolfgangrembeck total hear you. There such a fine line between quality, price and value. I welcome a new entrance for sure and I think Leatt is wanting to establish as an upper tier product. What I generally look for is a product that under promises and over delivers to get my business long term. I'm currently running an Bell MX9 adventure mips that I got for $130 and bought light sensitive shield for $100 so I guess that's where I am coming from. The goggles? A nice touch but necessary? It's all good

$600 for the standard version, but we go head to head on features and specs instead of just judging based on where it was manufactured. Personally, I'd put this toe to toe with the XD-5 even though that one is way more touring-adv vs these being more dirt-adv focused. -Pat

@@RevZilla If we are comparing the prices to the top tier helmets like Arai and Shoei than we should compare the ratings also. This helmet is not Snell approved or FIM approved. Then why should we pay more for something new and not tested properly? More plastic pieces in the box doesn’t make safer and better quality helmet.

When did $600+ become a standard starting point for helmets… “Great price point” wtf. Chinese made so $550 profit. Helmets are trending like pharmaceutical companies, vehicles and the rest of the gougers.

IMO and watching the market: General rule of thumb is entry pricing for ADV is $200-300 for entry helmets, $300-450 for the mid tier helmets, $450+ for the premium end of the market. But country of origin doesn't determine features / safety, maybe build quality in some cases but I try and let the features detail the price. If you want a more budget friendly helmet with a solid list of features, the MX-9 ADV MIPS still crushes it at ~$250 and has won our entry level ADV comps for very good reason. Options at every price point though, solid things across the board 🤙

Leatt is a South African hard core off road company. Their brand is some quality stuff. Their current helmets quality allow for this premium. I like it. Beats the Klim Krios pricing. That’s key.

@@j-way1809 the price is irrelevant. Standards are standards, if it protects your head that is that matters. Most of these prices are due to cosmetic, and comfort issues.

Nice looking helmet but no way it will sell well for $800, it's mid-range lid at best, far from competitive with helmets in this price range. No quick release, no MIPS, carbon version is way too heavy (3.28 lbs. for Leatt 9.5 ADV carbon VS. 2.53 lbs. for the Klim Krios Pro - THATS A MASSIVE difference). Arai XD4 can be purchased for $450 - 650, the Shoei Hornet can be bought for $600-800, Klim Krios Pro for $700-750. Most I'd pay for the Leatt is $400 for regular and $450 for carbon (carbon is only marginally lighter than the regular one - 3.28 lbs. vs 3.47 lbs.). RevZilla, you may wanna point out these things if this was an actual "review".
@patrickmchugh8039
@patrickmchugh8039 24 күн бұрын
I'd argue you should get your hands on it before judging it. Since it isn't available yet, I know that your just go spec v spec with some (imo) misplaced info. The peak is quick release on these, as is the shield, and the carbon has Fidlock, so I'm not sure which quick release your mentioning, but has a lot of those covered. These don't have MIPS, but has 360-turbine tech which is the exact same technology and something leatt has been using since around the same time MIPS came to market. Producing the same if not better performance on rotational / low impacts. I'll try and grab a Klim Krios Pro and weigh it again, but the lowest I have ever seen was 3lbs 1 oz and thats far from 2.53 lbs which would make it lighter than most solid dirt helmets out there. For an ADV lid that would be a bit farfetch'd for me to believe without weighing it. Considering we've weight the Krios before around 3lbs to 3lbs 1oz, I can't imagine 8 ounces just vanished. I won't address an outgoing closeout XD-4 to a brand new for 2025 helmet on pricing, but the XD-5 is $800+ and more touring than dirt related. I'm happy to and do call things out in videos, but considering the hundreds of helmets that come across my desk to review each year - I'd like to think I have a grasp on what is solid compared to the rest of the market. But maybe that's just me. Follow your heart with what you want but for us, as professional gear reviewers and testers, these lids go head to head with a lot of the top tier off-road focused ADV helmets out there at similar pricing. And considering most of the new models are more "touring" in their focus / style / features, I still tip my hat to Leatt for creating something for those of us that spend more time in the dirt on the big bikes than the highway. But again, my 2 cents. I'd love to see your review of it hands on when you get one and see what your take is on each feature. Ride safe homie,🤙

you mean quick release cheekpads? Because if you do, it has. 360 turbines is leatt´s answer to mips (do some research before commenting), no fair comparison to Krios Pro since it´s ece 22.05 vs 22.06 which has made helmets heavier, go check the klim alpha X1 (the new klim ADV helmet)...heavier also than krios pro and pretty close to this one. XD4 has been in the market for over a decade and since the release of the XD5 it´s obvious they need to closeout the existing XD4. Hornet is one of the heaviest
