When this wonderful man said “it’s like a disorder, when you cut something you gotta root it”. I felt that deeply in my soul🤣🤦🏽♂️ I am exactly the same. Anything I prune, whether if be fruit trees, veggie plants, herbs, dragonfruit especially. I just don’t have the heart to throw it out. Can’t do it. I usually have about 40 rooted cuttings at a time of dragonfruit. My wife posts it on Facebook marketplace 🤣 I make some cash but mostly give em away to friends and family. It’s a win/win for me. Rather see someone that wants to at least try grow stuff and get food out of it, rather than it wilting and rotting away. Growing is also my passion. Just like this man said. It’s an addiction. Therapy. So rewarding when you get food out of it. Tastes 1000 times better also🙏🏼👍🏼🤙🏼

I can attest to this. Growing nightshades and cucurbits under cover makes them go crazy. I had bad disease and production problems growing out in the open in southeastern coastal NC. Since growing them in a tunnel with shade cloth over them, they perform incredibly well. Keeping them dry helps, but the UV block of shade cloth does the most good. Turns out it is the strong UV index of summer that beats up the plants and stresses them out. That stress makes them susceptible to disease and pests. The greenhouse plastic blocks UV, and that is keeping the plants happy, which keeps their natural defenses high. I also experimented growing tomatoes under the eaves and soffits of my house. It blocks the sun and rain. It took all the way until September for them to get blight! It usually happens in MAY here! Truly astounding. Protection from the sun and rain in the South is everything. I’ll never grow them without shade cloth.

Amazing what you can do on a small property! 1/10 of an acre can grow enough veg for several families. I love all the community gardens popping up. I’d like to see them add a few animals, possibly chickens, pigs, and a few small dairy goats. Done right, they could feed them mainly on scraps from the member families and produce fertile manure to feed the next crop of veg.

I have to thank you . I tried to grow tomatoes in my back yard but I have to much shade. Took your advice and planted them in the front yard. What a difference. Best tomatoes ever.

This is an actual primer for how to grow annual produce in Florida 9B, unless you're near the Gulf/rivers like Jim's place is. A lot of infrastructure and the need to constantly vet the plants. Tons of wood chips for mulch to build soil. Add to this, if you're out in the country there are rabbits and squirrels. Heaters for the temperature drops in winter.

Haha his neighbor recognizing skill on the welder by the sound - impressive. I got an email back from Mel on the new project, but never got a second email. Hope everyone is healthy and ok there! Was waiting to schedule a phone call

Love it, his style emulates exactly what I'm trying to achieve with my property. I call it "Manicured Jungle". A great mix of vegetable beds, fruit trees, and other assorted plants but with a nice manicured lawn(i know i know). My journey started during the pandemic, working inside a hospital those beige walls were really starting to close in. Pete's videos had a hand in saving me. They inspired me to literally get out there and grow, sort of the yin & yang I needed to balance out my life. I moved on from that job thank goodness. I even got to buy some plants from his place up there in the St. Pete area. Just this past weekend I finished my pond container install so that I'm able to add aquatic plants and fish to the mix. Thanks for the inspo Pete, you've changed my life.

This guy is doing a great job. I've been tossing around the idea of getting a shade cloth for growing in the summer. I might have to go ahead and make that happen. I love seeing what people are capable of. Thank you for sharing, Pete.

When is the next video with Jim?! Are you going to Maine or do we have to wait until he comes back to Florida?
