I grew up in Hollywood during the 80's there was a club on the Sunset Strip called The Veil, it was at the height of the New Romantic era. Everyone dressed the part, everyone danced all night! Best times of my life.

@@Pulse2AM You know I always dream about those type of "80's saturday night" and it would be cool to recreate it: maybe there are currently club that do it, but here in Italy... very rare, maybe a bunch of clubs in all the country. Are there in Los Angeles this type of clubs? Through media it seems such a vibrant, alive city. I'm from Genoa, we have sea, and a very unique historical centre that I suggest you to see at least one time in your life. Try to type "centro storico Genova" on internet, it's really beatiful, it's like a maze. Can I ask you a question? You know that Depeche Mode's music sometimes can hit in a negative way, for example bringing sadness or melancholy feelings: listen their songs alone, make me wonder if I would react in a same way if I listen to it with other people, in the disco, dancing; I don't know, it seems a different way to approach to them. It's hard form me to explain it in English, I'm sorry about it, but I would really enjoy to haveyour opinion about it! What I want to say is: have their music made you ever fell sad while you were with other people, dancing or didn't think about it?

@@Martina-mt8ms I don't think there are clubs in LA like that now, the music scene and cultural scene is more HipHop and urban now. The 80's was a unique time here, everyone was making money, AIDs had not really hit hard in the early 80's so people were hooking up freely and partying. The city has changed a lot, especially now but it still is a great city with lots to do, see, and unbeatable weather! Your English is great! My Italian not so much! I can understand the feelings with DM's music when you listen alone, while dancing with others in a club I never felt that way, just going with the night which was always fun. I will Google Genoa right now and see where you live. :) Come to Los Angeles some time, I'll show you around.

Happy 40th ! .. brilliant music for all time I remember it so clearly hearing it for the first time.. the early Depeche all over.. Vince gone & building new music 'upstairs' with Alf & Eric.. 'downstairs at Daniel's' .. the boys were determined to get it right without Vince (& keeping Alan Wilder at bay before he came aboard & started having a similar huge influence on the band) they were a trio .. & Yazoo / Vince was now a duo .. it felt strange the synths were changing.. the songs too.. but Leave in Silence was something else.. like the end of the Beatles 'love songs' period.. Depeche Mode were about to get more & more serious.. experimental & unusual.. becoming new life again.. determined Yazoo, were not going to steal the show yet, the brilliant Vince Clarke was not going to disappear, either It was all wonderful new music.. it felt so 'up to date' & 'in the moment' listening it was revolutionary.. Goodbye 70s it was all happening down in Blackwing Studios an old Cathedral, partly destroyed in the Blitz now full of synth-80s-pop a beacon of light
