These horses are among the most pampered equines on the planet...their working hours consists of one (occasionally two SEPARATE hours) a day, and not on consecutive days. I doubt that leaves them exhausted in any way. After a few weeks on duty, they spend a few weeks out at pasture, and in summer months they get a "seaside holiday" where they and their riders get to frolic on a beach and in the sea to their hearts content. During their brief stay at Horseguards, undertaking this ceremonial duty...which you refer to as an "uneccessary horse ritual," the horses have the best quality feed, the services of an on-site farrier and an equine veterinarian, plus the utmost care and attention lavished on them by the Troopers. Perhaps you should appreciate that they are working horses, and if they were no longer required for such work, ie. ceremonial duties, then they simply wouldn't exist. I would imagine KZbin may be censoring your comments due to the sensationalist misinformation they contain.

Horses helped humanity for thousands of years to win wars and help humanity progress in many many ways. The horse was a valuable contributor to help humanity through the centuries. And now, they are just a joke to be ridiculed and pushed aside by the younger generation. To be mocked and only good for pictures to show on social media. It kind of saddens me in a way.

@remogatron1010 It is so sad...people have no regard for anything...it's like those soldiers and their mounts are there simply to amuse them...they don't really care about getting a picture of the horse unless they're in the pic. I say, take pictures of the soldiers with their horse, sell them as like picture post cards, or make a book of them with the names, maybe a short history of the regiments, etc. Sell them at a kiosk or gift shop.

@@paulinemegson8519. Actually my father kept horses. They didn’t interest me much, but I do know when a horse is very uncomfortable. Unless of course you can explain why horses are constantly moving their heads when fitted with reins, if it isn’t discomfort.

@@oldman1734 Horses “don’t interest” you much,and you’ve never owned one…..or fairly obviously tacked one up yet you still feel qualified to pass judgement 😂 and you see NO problem with that? 🙄🤣 Anyway,there’s a couple of reasons one benign, the other not so much but still not insurmountable. Reason one is because those horses are doing a job that is fairly boring. If you’re so accustomed to horses I’m surprised that you’ve never come across this. I guess your horses were all perfect tho. Also a lot of horses like to chew on their bit and toss their heads cos they like the sounds. And there’s one horse in the HCav stables that likes to throw his rein over his head……I suspect it’s because he knows that means a trooper or the gatesman will need to come fix it so he’ll get attention from “his” people. Again, it’s all just standard displacement activity, just to pass the time. The other reason is it’s in protest at too many people. A horse that doesn’t wish to be touched will throw its head up. Sadly a lot of the tourists don’t understand this so they persist which can create a habit in the horse of head tossing. Not great but not that bad either.
