As a "Black" Man, I was born and raised in L.A. (I'm in my 60's now). My _Single Black Mother,_ got fed up with the U.S. and moved me (an only child) and her to Brazil... *in 1969.* I have visited 77 Countries and lived in 4 of those for more than a year each, and my wife of 29 years and I have lived mostly offshore for the past 15 years off and on. Including my U.S. passport/citizenship, I have 2 other passports and 3 other full-time foreign residency permits. I share this to say its not all that complex actually. Its some work, but the main issue IMO is to understand what one is running away from, and what one wants to run to. Bluntly, one can't run away from themselves.

I wish I could leave next year. Unfortunately, I have a job commitment and can only leave once my time is up. Between now and then, I'm going to get closer to paying off school loans. Hoping I'll be done in a couple years so I can leave and not look back!

Amazing information you shared here as usual. I don't even want to think about what it will be like in the next few months leading up to the circus that's coming. Keep sharing and spreading the word. The last few cities we have visited I didnt see not one black person/AA. I love to see us out here living and not just existing.

Sometimes I feel like these conversations are for higher earners that are more established in their careers. I’m in my early 30’s just now really getting started in my career. I can’t even afford to think about moving to another country but i desperately want to because the way this country is headed is unbearable!

It's better to travel to various countries, stay at airbnb',s, meet locals, learn about the community, country, culture and you will see the iros and cons of living in the US vs. another country. Please note you can't obtain this experience by staying at a hotel. Love amongst the people, but not in heavy rural areas of another country.

I have been thinking about this last year. Unfortunately dealing with breast cancer has delayed everything, including adding more debt and just scraping by now. However, i am moving out of Texas(thank god) and moving in with a friend in Nevada to get my finances back in check. At least Nevada is a swing state. Plans delayed. But i want to do it smartly. So I'm shooting for 2025. But I am going to apply for the residency even if I can't be in country yet. But people should always have a valid passport just in case. But honestly don't let people rush you. I'm tired of the doomsday videos, KZbinrs just trying to make money.
@Kattywagon29 Жыл бұрын
The passport mention is so on point. I have been talking to family members, encouraging them to get their passports. For some reason, in the US, people think of passports as luxury items. Meanwhile in other parts of the world, having a passport is just like having your license. People will also say that they can't afford to go anywhere else in the world, so what do they need a passport for? Those same people will spend that passport money on something that they don't need... I will also say, there doesn't have to be a "Doomsday" per say, but the problem is that there may be point where you can't afford to stay in your home country for one reason or another, and then that's when you need your passport. You don't want to need it and then don't have it.

I wish I had started this a year ago. I knew I wanted to but time escaped me. I was thinking the 2024 election would go better than expected but now with the democratic vote being split so much by religious zealots, the Palestinian vs Israel and all these 3rd party candidates, project 2025, I'm not hopeful at all and I feel more desperate.

Hello! Thanks for the video! I'm glad I found your channel. I quit my career 1 year ago and started living in a van, but this has been active scouting for a good location to build funds, as I want to move out if the country. Do you happen to know of any Queer people that moved abroad with info? It's been difficult to find anyone black, let alone anyone Queer. I've looked into the rights I would have abroad and which countries to avoid. The info is solid but hearing from a live person would be very good. At this rate I might have to make the channel myself 😅. Black and Queer Traveling abroad is like spotting a unicorn.
Hi, I’m going through some of your videos, feeling the crush of time to exit, especially since there’s only 4.5 months before elections. I’ll be contacting you very soon. Thanks again!

My son is in his senior year of high school so I can’t go anywhere until after he graduates. Then I’ll be leaving California for my parents house in Texas and stay there for a couple of years to save, invest, and pay down student loans. It’s hard to move with older teens since we have to consider them as well. They have a life, friends, school, and still depend on us for some things. It’s good to have conversations with your teen early on about what you’d like to do and where you want to be so everyone is prepared as much as possible.

Do some research on the educational system of the country/city you may want to move to. A lot of expats bring their kids with them and enroll them in the schools of the country they travel to. ❤

You may not need another degree. Write down your skill sets you learned for your degree and any skills that you learned on your own over the years. Remix your career. If your into teaching, companies look for international English teachers, you can research that. Think outside the box. ❤

The gass is not greener on the other side. I love mexico, but can only tolerate 3months at a time. I cannot tolerate countries that charge 1million USD for a one bedroom condo, especially in Mexico City, yet the plumbing doesnt work. You cant flush toilet paper down the toilet, only showers, cant drink tap water...having to constanly have water delivered too you and the list goes on..not to mention living in a good neighborhood in another can be costlier than living in the US. Dont let these youtubers make you feel like the grass is greener in another country. Now, I will say I felt healthier because fruits and vegetables are better and natural remedies and foods are used to treat medical conditions, not medications that the the pharmaceutical industry in the US will make you dependent on.
@discoveringhealthandfinanc83284 ай бұрын
Yah there's always pros and cons to any country
@dorisstjohn1344 ай бұрын
Thank you for addressing this glaring reality about moving abroad. You are correct. The "grass" is not greener on the other side. I lived abroad for many years and the cultural as well as the socio-economic adjustments were in fact daunting, and in some cases worst than the US. While the US is far from perfect, however, moving abroad is not a guaranteed solution to personal or societal issues, and it's important for people to have realistic expectations when considering such a significant change. Also, as a resident in Mexico, how is she coping with all of the drug cartel violence in a country that is deemed a "narco state"?
