Cheers brother, superb video. Sound, camera position 👍 with BMW you have to keep track of only 2 things. Turbo will last no worries there. Sensors and everything will last don't worry about it. The number 1 thing is to check if your EGR cooler is not under replacement action due to leaks. Also second thing is PCV cover. It is plastic and after some time it can break. You will know this by oil consumption. I mean like 1 liter to 1000-2000 km. I've had 3000 km per 1 liter of oil and it was rather bad. Oil will burn inside and totally fuk up your DPF with extra soot. If your PCV is good, and you are not losing coolant liquid all is good. I've been tricked into changing lots of expensive parts and only thing bad was DPF. BMWs do not have separate DPF icon on the dashboard. Meaning it will not tell you anything and suddenly it might light up Check engine light. If it does you have to first delete the error message or wait until it disappears (yes it can !!) because with this light it won't repair your DPF. With this icon gone you just drive for 20minutes without stops to burn away soot. After many burning cycles (applies if you buy car second-hand) it can get clogged from carbon deposits. Those carbon particles cannot burn further so you just have to take DPF out and order a cleaning. Afterwards do not believe anyone you HAVE to get a new original seal and seal buckle between turbo and dpf or you will have exhaust fumes in your cabin!. I am writing this for anyone to help you as I have been cheated for 3000 dollars for repairs by those MFs in car repair shops. New turbo, new EGR new sensors and all it needed was dpf clean for $200.

Thanks for the detailed advice and sorry to hear about your experience! My EGR has been replaced under the recall around 4 years ago but I haven't checked the PCV valve - the car has been burning about 1l of oil/4000-5000km since I got it, which I found quite suspicious for a then-90k km car. It hasn't gotten worse over time (it's at 135k km now) but my mechanic's advice was to basically get rid of it, as such issues are usually hard to track down. I've had quite a few other random (and really annoying) issues since, including broken swirl flaps causing a soft limp mode, an untraceable squealing at startup and random suspension knocks... my door handle just broke a couple of days ago and one of the taillights gave out yesterday and was throwing random errors, so I think I'll be putting an end to this love-hate relationship I have with it soon 😤

yeah swirl flaps I've been noted that they are faulty from the start and should be removed, but I've just replaced them 2 years back and they hold. Definitely check PCV for cracks. Apart from that those cars are really nice to drive. its almost hard to explain. there is something in my soul responding to bmw. mind you I've never been "that guy" .. it just happened. door handle and taillights is such a random break. you might have luck in other parts of life ;) there is always something. you cannot have universal happiness. something has to give and something has to break. yours is just few parts on your car. wish you the best! we are all in this fight together. thousands of miles away.

Nice video! I like the camara angle because you can see the road and the rev counter! You only do short trips like this one? How is you dpf doing? It would be nice to see the fuel consumption menu on idrive during the driving! Btw why do you turn the ignition on before turning the engine?

Thanks! My daily trips are indeed quite short nowadays, but most of the kilometres I've done until a few months ago were on motorways at higher speeds. I also usually drive out of the city on weekends and floor it so I hope my DPF is alright. I'll try recording some longer drives but I usually need navigation for them, which is on my phone... which I use for recording :) I turn the ignition on first so that the fuel pump has enough time to turn on too - it usually helps start the engine faster, especially at colder temps.
