What is it that Bernard has on the snare? The black thingy?

Hey, it's Gene the video producer for this series of vids. I've been told by another drummer that applying tape (duct tape) to the surface of a drum helps to control or dampen the sound. Some insights on this stackexchange string - music.stackexchange.com/questions/17479/why-do-drummers-put-duct-tape-on-their-drums
@cresk6 жыл бұрын
soncries it’s for damping or muffling the sound of the toms and snare. Legends just use some tape, while the rest of us have special moongel :-]

Not the version I expected, this jazz arrangement hit me a bit left field. Good harp player, too jazzy for me to be the blues. Taj does it the best for my ears. But so many sounds influence others, they made it their own and fun too, inspiring to create a feeling or to express your own through the music is the point respectfully. Preferences and opinions vary so much, I just hope I wont lose sight of that ideal. Jazz fans will adore this, I am used to only instrumental jazz no vocals normally. But hey I accept these cats they are real far out.

Definitely bluesy jazz and not jazzy blues. That being said, it has a pocket. 👍
