A large house in a small pueblo is what we did. I sold my flat in an expensive coastal town (Jávea) and bought a large house 25km inland in a working town., all after a grueling cancer protocol. Now we have a small gardening business and my role is admin and running the house. We adopted two dogs two months after buying the house. Spain.

Ivy, I'm in New York..lower Westchester County. Prices are EXHORBITANT!! 😩 Similar to the costs you mentioned in Canada. We're looking (my son, his wife and child) to move someplace where the cost of living might be a bit less. And, the quality of life here is terrible..I have NO social life at all. I recently lost my part-time job (I'm retired, on a fixed income), so no socializing there anymore. THE WORLD IS EXTREMELY ANGRY AND VIOLENT..you are SO right !! OMG, I wish I had your courage, but of course, I'm a far cry from 52 now. So, my options are more limited. If I knew then, what I know now. 🙄 I so admire your courage and how you reinvented yourself. Thanks for sharing...stay blessed! Rosemarie ❤️

I'm glad your channel came up again on my feed, im a subscriber but I couldnt remember your channels name. I am in my early 40s and having a hard time adjusting to being in my 40s, feeling pretty lost. There aren't enough 40+ female role models out there. I'm not a mother and I'm single so that adds to the lost feeling ie what is my role in life. If you could do a video on this that would be great!

@@WomenBlazingTrails Yes finding purpose and identity after 40 that isn't about being a wife or mother. How you created a life for yourself, what gives your life happiness and meaning, how you stay connected to the world ie not lonely, how to feel good about ageing too so you can embrace it rather than feel depressed about it. Hopefully that makes sense, thank you. I'm going to check out your other videos I've missed.

I can relate to some of the things you mentioned, and my son felt similarly living our lives in Florida, USA. As a fellow Canadian, I totally get where you're coming from about why people might wanna bail. Seriously though, with all the crazy expensive living costs and the fact that owning a home feels like a distant dream for many now, it's no wonder folks are thinking twice. And let's not even get started on how the job market seems to be flooded with cheap labor from all the newcomers, which isn't exactly helping wages go up. And yeah, don't even get me started on the whole healthcare mess. It's like, what's even "universal" about it anymore?

Your channel popped up, so I viewed. Glad you are happy down there. My Canadian sister lived in Africa for twenty years, then Vietnam the last couple. I traveled in SE Asia in 1988. For eight years I was away from Canada half that time. In 98 i moved to the States in the Pacific NW. In 2004 I spent half my time there and half in SE Asia. In 2009 until 2022 I lived in Indonesia and then Vietnam. (Im back in the Niagara region caring for my elder mum and her sister). First time living back in Canada in 24 years. In 88 i left Canada because travel was all i wanted to do. Older people occasionally said to me, "Travel. Do it while you're young". I took that advice. I was 23 then. Will be 60 this year. I had 23 years in Canada. Seemed long enough and wanted to experience more somewhere else. 😊

I’m leaving the US because of Trump and even more, Trumpism. I live in a red state and it has become toxic. Every dollar I spend in the US, I’m supporting a billionaire. The country I grew up with is gone. The people are angry, bitter and vengeful. I’m afraid to honk at someone in traffic for fear of road rage. My world has shrunk as I spend more and more time indoors. Florida has become so expensive and getting worse. My HOA fees have doubled in the past two years because of rising insurance costs. Another hurricane and more insurance companies will leave. I love Guatemala. It’s a two hour flight from Miami. I’m planning on moving to Panajachal. I watched your video on the 6 things you hate and I agree they’re annoying. But, the alternative is Trump, and frankly, I’ll take scorpions over Trump any day! Thanks for your video!

Born in Canada...sad to see it slide into oblivion. Not going back.

@WomenBlazingTrails 🇮🇷 Iran. My wife is from here. We came for a visit in 2018 for three months, and we loved it. It is NOT AT ALL what is portrayed in the Western media. There is freedom here. It's just a conservative religious society. It's clean, safe, is very strong on family values. The people are sweet, generous, and very kind to visitors. The culture is very rich, great food, amazing architecture, beautiful music and artists that are out of this world. We found our new home and we decided to stay here permanently. It's been three years going on four now.
