Haven't finished the video, but as a pilot, that pilot did you a service by not pushing it. Riley expressed gratitude, which was great of him especially given the circumstance, but he could rest assured that pilot made the right choice. Even if the flight could have been made IFR, it would probably have been an awful ride. A boat captain can certainly relate, weather moves quickly, and can absolutely kill you if you don't respect it. Glad everything worked out!

IFR means instrument flying where Air Traffic Control tells you what to do, VFR is Visual Flight Rules, not much use when the weather is so bad you can't see far.

My family flew through a storm in a flight from Miami to to Naples in the early seventies. We had two tiny planes, one for us and one for the luggage. It was the scariest flight I have ever been on. We could see fires in the glades and water that had been in paper cups was dripping on us because of the crazy drops in altitude. South Florida summer storms are no joke.

You’re so blessed to have Ellie as a full-time nanny. I had one that came daily while I worked only 6 hr days and she took care of our 3 sons, had dinner ready, did our laundry and even ironed all my husband’s work shirts. She was 70 and we never asked her to do anything other than watch the boys, but she said she wanted to keep active. The 2 that were old enough to talk called her Grandma Edna. On a boat I’d definitely need a full time nanny especially when you’re helping Lenny navigate during storms and all that goes with sailing. Thank God your boat survived the hurricane and the pilot decided not to fly. Love from California

see heres the thing ,, hahahaha when i was a kid yup i would drop and sleep anywheres , just like Darwin i would lay on the floor out cold to the world . i am now older lets say i have past 60 and i have reverted back to when i was a kid. i drop to the floor and go out cold , hahahaha the only differance is , now days its harder to get off the floor . hahahaha have a nice one .

Hey Riley, with your halyards at anchor you can use a 3mm Dynema mouse line and pull the halyard all the way up the mast. This stops sunburn and windage.

Oh boy, it’s our “land lecture” episode of how easy we have it 🤣 Don’t forget you’d all go your own way with work and daycare from 8am-5pm. You’d drop the kids at daycare, head to the office, sit at a desk during the daylight hours, then get exercise in if you’re lucky before you get home to make dinner and put the kids to bed. You need to make a “typical day on land” episode where you all do an average American work day on land and compare. That would be really interesting actually! 💕💕💕

When I became a scuba diver I had some good but cheap fins. They were long and flexible and after 8 hrs of swimming with them my ankles were beginning to hurt a little. Then they came out with the wide slotted fin which were unbearable. They were so bad Farallon added an ankle brace with range of motion stops built in. Now everything has switched back to a long and flexible fin. Can't wait to try them for the first time.

Im so confused. Was the Vaga left in Hopetown B'hamas (the phone call) or Miami? Cause Ft L is 30-40 minutes drive to Miami, wondering why flying was a thing. Were the Highways crowded? There are always the back routes.Yes- the wind carries a lot of debris in it. Well glad it was not one of Fla worst, we didnt hear much about it N Fl. Watching this video I had a strange realization. I've watched your videos since 2016, and never noticed until today that Riley is wet like 75% of the time. Whether he is swimming in a pool, the ocean, spearfishing, testing gear in the shower (hahah), cleaning under the boat, checking anchor etc. The guy is always wet! Lol!
