I’m currently in La Gomera and flew in to Tenerife North from Malaga Airport. I’ve been travelling for 40 years, and no sane person eats at an airport! Prices are astronomical! I hardly ever fly budget airlines, but when I do, I bring a nice salad and/or a sandwich with me.

On the way back there are around a dozen new biometric scanners in the arrivals hall. Like the other scanners they are not operational yet but its just a reminder to make sure your passports/Spanish residency cards/EU cards are up to date because they will switch them on at some stage in 2025. Based on what I know if you have a newer Spanish TIE card you will be allowed to use the non-UK queue and that will be a bonus.

I was in Tenerife in July and our gate was announced late for our flight home and we were caught in the big queue you referenced. We then realised our flight was on the final call and came up against a very hostile airport security guard who would not let us through to make our flight. It took a lot of negotiation with him because he doesn’t realise the knock on effect this can have especially when travelling with a child. I do think there could be improvements especially with more staff stamping passports. We did make the flight in the end but if we had have just stood in the queue we wouldn’t have.

Great video Andrew. That tape you saw at 26:29 is called Speed tape, and is a temporary repair. And they will most likely be awaiting parts. (Remember the airplane engineers won’t let a plane fly if it’s not fit to fly. 👍💪

Ah poor Laura looks exhausted. 💕 can’t believe how quiet the passport area was. They really should highlight that non UK passport holders don’t have to queue. I’ve seen a lot of people arriving late to their gate because they stood in the uk line. That looks like a nice little coffee spot. Definitely a lot more places in the last few months. My husband does all the booking and organising, looking at prices well in advance to get the best price. Usually he books tenerife for 10 oct, but this year we going later 16 October . Not to happy that tui have changed flight times don’t arrive until 1050 pm , it should normally be 7 pm.
