I was in Tenerife in July and our gate was announced late for our flight home and we were caught in the big queue you referenced. We then realised our flight was on the final call and came up against a very hostile airport security guard who would not let us through to make our flight. It took a lot of negotiation with him because he doesn’t realise the knock on effect this can have especially when travelling with a child. I do think there could be improvements especially with more staff stamping passports. We did make the flight in the end but if we had have just stood in the queue we wouldn’t have.

My husband does all the booking and organising, looking at prices well in advance to get the best price. Usually he books tenerife for 10 oct, but this year we going later 16 October . Not to happy that tui have changed flight times don’t arrive until 1050 pm , it should normally be 7 pm.

If you think it's expensive in Tenerife airport, fly from dalaman in turkey, it's eye watering to say the least, 15 quid for a Macy dees, all points of sales are Euros not lira , talk about extracting every last penny before you go home
