*This is a shortened version of the original report.
The unresolved conflict between the Palestinian Refugees and the Lebanese army is causing tension in Middle East. With Israeli Commando raids in the Lebanese capital against the Palestinian high command and seemingly not overly condemned by the Lebanese authorities, could these tensions lead to a greater conflict in the area. Correspondent Jonathan Dimbleby investigates.

In the 70s and 80s beirut was a by word for violence and destruction , I was amazed to learn later that it used to be like a cross between Switzerland and St tropez .

Israel was a shitty solution. What made the middle east worst were the CIA interventions in democratic governments and the countless proxy conflicts during the cold war (technically tgese never stopped... neither did the cold war). Now we like to pin it on the Taliban or the Palestinians or today maybe Isis, but they are all just a Symptom of a Sickness that started years ago. Would we take it all back if we could? Who knows...
